What's the issue here? Part Deux

Some of you may remember this thread and my all-out rage against my poor polisher. Grab a beverage, sit back, and relax, because this is long. You have been warned. ;) First, I would like to thank everyone who took an angry, frustrated starting post and proceeded to offer suggestions and ideas...

    megs BP

I am using a W67DA and that is my experience as well. I was afraid I was going to tear the MF pad apart pulling it off.

A virus Killed my old computer.

In cases like these I usually don't even bother with safe mode. I remove it and put it in another computer to scan first.

A virus Killed my old computer.

I agree with the rest of the replies. It sounds like it only FUBARed your account, but not necessarily the documents in it. In that case, it would be a simple matter to retrieve your files, as long as they are still intact (I highly suspect they are.)

    7424XP- Shaft came out

It looks like the shaft is press-fit into a bearing in the top of the casing. I would find the nearest service center and have them look at it. Mention it is under warranty and they might be able to take care of you. IIRC DeWalt, Delta, Porter Cable, and Black and Decker is all one center...

    Thoughts on Photoshop

I have a DSLR, and getting the perfect lighting and color balance is sometimes aggravating and dang near impossible. (The camera helps, but other things are never perfect.) The fact that I can edit those pictures to make the intended point more visible, or assist the viewer in seeing it how it...

Was that a Honda? I had a '95 civic that turned around like that when I used D151 and a polishing pad on it!

What new products would you like to see introduced at SEMA?

You know, if carmakers came up with extremely resilient yet polishable topcoats for their paint systems (a version of what Mike keeps iterating), there would be little need to seal the paint with anything in the first place!

    What's the issue here?

Teaching the wifey college physics tonight, then tomorrow it's work then off to see the in-laws for the weekend, work Monday, then homework due Tuesday! Maybe I'll get a quick session in tonight. . . Shawn: None of that came out wrong at all. The encouragement is appreciated.

    Carbon Fiber Detail

If it's not clear coated, it's most likely gel coated. If it's neither, it should be. In any case, you can usually treat it like paint. Of course, it may not respond the same as the rest of the paint on the car.

    What's the issue here?

The Edge pads do not have a visible backing plate. I could see some color variation on the up-facing side of the pad and could see it rotating fairly easily.

    What's the issue here?

A side note: I had all my initial investment paid off soon after I first purchased my detailing supplies. For every little bit of extra money I had from detailing, I would use some to upgrade my inventory. Now there is no credit left on that credit card, so there is no room for initial...

    What's the issue here?

I have been cleaning my pads on the fly (brush) and flip it over when that side is too saturated or clean the entire pad. Then again, for me it's like the chicken-or-egg thing. If I want to go out and do more than just wash-and-wax jobs, I would probably be looking at a one-step for most...

    What's the issue here?

An important point was brought up in this discussion: Would you rather work by hand? or Are you ready to sink the dough on something harder to learn yet? (3401, rotary) (IE: Have you taken the DA to the maximum of its ability and came away disappointed?) We will soon find out if I will stand...
