What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

People keep saying "product". There is no charging by the hour for product. I'm talking about the "service" portion. Like what would you charge per hour for swinging your arm back and forth for an hour. Ability doesn't mean anything to a brand new customer that knows nothing about you. Quality...

What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

I guess to answer the original question, I plan on shooting for at least $50/hr mark profit in the Jacksonville, FL area, which I think to be pretty low, but it seems to be on par with the area when it comes to total service prices. I don't charge by the hour, but just keep it in my head that I...

What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

You are mistaking product for service. You can value product whatever you want because it's different, has different qualities, different tastes. It's completely subjective. Being able to make a painted surface smooth and taking out swirl marks is objective. It either is or isn't, with a few...

49.89 Dollar Sun Gun, 3M have a seat

I actually doubt that. High intensity LEDs do get very hot and even require heat sinks in some applications. I used to do a lot of night diving and used an LED torch and the heat sink came through the center of the lens to be cooled by water, and even came with a protective cap so you don't burn...

What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

I don't think you can always justify why you charge more than someone else. There is only so good you can clay bar a car. There is only so good you can get swirl marks out. If someone does a complete proper clay bar, and charge $30/hr doing it, there is NO justification for charging $100/hr in...

What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

Lower doesn't always mean reasonable. There are industry standards that tend to exist. Not only is undercharging cutting out of your own profits, but it hurts the industry. Why wouldn't you want to make more money for your hard work, and it's exactly that, hard work. I don't mean to be...

What are your rates for your services? mobile or shop?

Have you considered raising your prices? I'm actually considering moving to Jax and starting up my business there again, but you are working for about $30/hr, not even counting material usage, fuel costs, paying taxes. As an employee, $30/hr sounds good. For a business owner and in a skilled...

How many people are interested in learning how to wet sand?

Mike made a post in one of my threads mentioning he has used rental cars in the past. Part hilarious, part eye opening haha.

    armor all products,

And in the OP's defense, when I first joined the forum, I didn't realize it was the forum of a specific company. I found The forum through a Google search. The store and forum do happen to have different web addresses. I didn't realize it until seeing the store link at the top and put 2 and 2...

    armor all products,

One particular reason I don't care for Armor All is because it has put haze on my windshield in the past. This was probably 20 years ago, but I still rather not go back when there are much better product out there. The haze comes from it evaporating off the dash when you use their interior...

Couple of questions about my Process

Being white, you'll probably want to get at it good with the clay bar, or a nanoskin foam pad for your PC. The nanoskin mitts work good for general paint decontamination, but on white vehicles, they tend to get little rail or brake dust spots on them that you can see if you look close. They are...

    Carpet and upholstery

I also use it when there is a lot of sand. I'll vacuum the area once, then drill brush the area to pull up more sand, then vacuum again. It's come in handy a lot. Just cleaned the canvas and all the mildew off the seams on my pop up camper the other day with it.

Anyone work in a body shop or very knowledgeable with auto painting?

Yeah I'm going to leave it. About to go over right now with Meguiars 105 and 205. I would have only added a clear coat if the consensus was that it could be done with a professional look with just masking. I already have WG Uber ceramic coating but going to wait awhile to put that on because I...

Anyone work in a body shop or very knowledgeable with auto painting?

Did you see the pics? It's almost not even orange peel in the corners above the taillights, but lack of paint coverage.

Anyone work in a body shop or very knowledgeable with auto painting?

I didn't like it either. This was the actual quote "A good friend of mine who is a detailer said it's perfect. Lots of clear coat to cut to make it look smooth." Am I being too picky or is that an unreasonable amount of orange peel on a $60k truck? It's so rough above the tail lights that a...

Anyone work in a body shop or very knowledgeable with auto painting?

Just saw a post on the Titan forum I go on where someone mentioned they have a detailer friend that says that this texture signifies there is a good amount of clear and great for wet sanding. I'm guessing if I don't go below the valleys, it wouldn't get any thinner than the valleys already are...

    Protecting against iron laden water

Found it on this site, and it is a chemicals guys product. It's called bare bones undercarriage spray and says it has anti stick properties.

    Protecting against iron laden water

Actually I think it may have been a chemical guys product. They sell some of their products here, but not sure if they sell that one.

    Protecting against iron laden water

I use Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0 and used to have an FC Cruiser and took it off road a few times. I hit a bunch of mud puddles, and none of the water or mud stuck to the paint. Anything that's going to sheet water really well should protect it. But I would give it a good spray afterwards...

    Carpet and upholstery

A relatively cheap mechanical method would be using a drill brush. Use a stain extract product of your choice, I use Stain Extract from chemical guys (I haven't tried anything else since I bought all my cleaning products in gallons) and I lightly spray the area, and use a drill and brush to...
