Clear coat failure, is this how it starts?

That is what happened to my gf's old yellow GMC Canyon. When we got together in 2012 the area between the door frame and the rubber gasket on the roof, the clear had peeled off. Just before she got her new Jeep in Aug/Sept 2021 I noticed areas of the hood starting to bubble up. Now it's...

If you could only choose one complete “system”?

Cheri just got her Jeep back from recall updates, and they didn't wash it! Success! Guess what I'm doing after we get back from the pet store... Yep, I'm washing that thing. Ha!

If you could only choose one complete “system”?

I used to be like that with drum and detailing gear. I decided to take the rout of trying to learn whatever product line I chose for the sake of efficiency and compatibility. As with anything there are tradeoffs and learning curves, but the reduction in inventory is a blessing. I can't even...

If you could only choose one complete “system”?

I'm basically Optimum for everything except: Rupes / Porter Cable polishers Buff and Shine / Lake Country pads 3D Abrasives. I either tossed or gave away everything else. I do have Meguiar's around for nostalgic reasons, but shifting to more of a "business" approach I whittled it down the...

Aquawax: is it me, or anyone else think…

Another victim of the ceramic brigade and the tiny water bead coalition. It is a very good and surprisingly durable as a stand alone sealant.

    Advice on my Spring routine

I'm debating on wether or not to give my car a light polish this spring. I haven't been diligent either, but it still looks great. Right now it's a test bed for Optimum stuff, but I have Opti-Seal on the majority of the paint. I did top everything off with OCW in the fall and have been...

    Ceramic coating applicators types?

I only use foam with Optimum Gloss Coat. I never even thought to try other coatings with foam. At work, I prefer the suede / foam block. Actually, the swatches Xpel sends with the kits are more like silk sheets. Definitely not "suede." When I had CarPro coatings, I used their microfiber suede...

World-wide Griot's Fast Correcting Cream shortage?

I just tossed a bunch of Optimum GPS and Hyper Compound die to emulsion issues.

    Carpro cquartz lite new experience

Mike, do think the new blue glass bottle will help it keep a longer shelf life?

Removing the ceramic coating before PPF is applied?

The Cut and Finish should remove it. 3D ONE on a B&S standard blue pad, with a PC 7424 xp s wasn't able to remove Gloss Coat.

Looking for a top tier glass sealant repellent.

We use Aquapel. Seems to do ok. I use Opti-Seal. Not the "best" in terms of the water beads rolling away, but it lasts a surprisingly long time. Longer than RainX anyway.

Polishing my black 2018 Acura RDX - seeking advice.

Yes, it does look like your towels are sorted. I'm not famaliar with the Griot's line first hand, but that marring looks similar to what I would sometimes get with Meguiar's M205 on a really soft clear coat. The last time I had this issue was on a black gmc Sierra. I was using 3D ONE on...

Polishing my black 2018 Acura RDX - seeking advice.

The initial posts screamed there was something wrong with the wipe off towels. Seems toy have that. For something like this? 1. Still the Griot's G9? 2. What pad? Orange Griots? 3. What speed? 4. How much pressure? 5. What polish? What wax are you using? How is it being applied? I have...

Carpro Cquartz Lite first time user?

I used the carpro foam block / suede swatch to apply Lite, but the following approach will work with those huge microfiber bricks too. I drew two lines of coating over the applicator and would reload similarly (you'll need more for the big microfiber bricks). For smaller sections I'll do a...

    Rinseless Washes - 2022

I do keep a pressure washer though. We have a lot of dirt roads just north of us, and I often need to blast off the heavy stuff before the ONR wash. I will also sometimes pre-treat with Optimun Power Clean (3 or 5:1), which I still need to put in the foamer. I also use it when I do wheels and...

Don’t you hate finding dings/scratches on your car?

Late May of 1999 I drove my brand new Chevy Cavalier off the lot and not long after that some turd backed into my front bumper with his trailer hitch. It was so disappointing. Then I learned how prone to creasing the foors and fenders were from people opening their doors into my car.

Great day for stocking up and trying new products! What did you get?

Try the M205 with a microfiber cutting pad. You might be surprised what it's capable of. It also can be used to help keep the dust of M105 down a bit by substituting a drop of M105 for M205 when you reload the pad. I believe during the 2014 SEMA buffing challenge, Kevin Brown was using M205...
