I dont think the wax turned them white. Buffing may have knocked some paint off of them. All my chips on my black car are white because the primer is exposed. Just fill the biggest ones and move on. No wax will hide it.

I don't see a problem with it. That's like 50 years ago saying I'm sick of all this wax/sealant stuff. You don't have to detail with any of it but it's good stuff.

Is this still a concern when using a fine finishing polish and a finishing pad or is it more for compounding? What about doors that are closed? Can you buff across the dividing line between the two doors if they are closed?

Nah, you can get a karcher k5 for 250 and it has a higher gpm. Even 1.4 is not enough volume as far as I'm concerned. I wouldnt go any less then 1.4 unless you have a really small car?
