    Ferrari 308 Gts-1979

Very nice car and detail. Too bad about the shoddy paint job, that car deserves much better!

    The ultimate detailing machine

With the Flex on the market, they have a lot of work to do .... I also have a UDM and it is now starting to lose power, which is a big disappointment....

    Plastic Swirls

You shouldn't have any problems at all. I believe many people use whatever polish and wax they use on the whole car on headlights and taillights as a 'refresher'.

    Best topper for 4* UPP?

I also have some of the new UPP coming in. I plan on doing a test side by side with older UPP to see the differences. Back to your question, even though you don't have this, I would use 4* UPPS - the UPP spray sealant. It is a very cool product and is very similar to UPP just in spray form...

    Poor Boys Natural look dressing.

PB NL is just that, natural looking. A very nice dressing if that is what you are looking for. Another choice would be Optimum Protectant but that takes a little more time to get right, it tends to streak a little. However, there isn't much gloss from it...

    Found roughness in paint

Yup ... as I already said, claying is essentially mandatory. Even new vehicles off the lot come with contaminants, so even a stout wash routine can't prevent it. But since the other panels have been repainted then what you are noticing could be paint overspray, which would be a little more...

    Found roughness in paint

Did you use a clay bar? Depending on what is causing the roughness, chances are clay will remove it... claying is almost a mandatory step in detailing.

New tool Digital Coating Thickness Guage

I have nothing to compare it to... but here were my thoughts on that subject: -Any reading is better than no reading. It comes with a calibration plate and overlay with the thickness printed on it so as long as the machine is calibrated, it should be accurate. -The thickness of the clear coat...

New tool Digital Coating Thickness Guage

You can get it from Harbor Freight -- it's the CenTech brand and is $70.

New tool Digital Coating Thickness Guage

Switch the readings to ums and then report back -- the readings then should be between 100-200 (just guessing). I like the ums because it is a larger number, showing more accuracy.I too just got the same gauge and have been checking readings on a bunch of vehicles. A tip I got from someone was...

    How to remove cone marks?

That should do the trick. If that doesn't seem to work, try different applicators, MF towel, foam pad, PC, terry cloth towel, etc.

    RMG or DWG?

DWG is going to end up being a flavor of the month, IMO. RMG has been out for a long time and many people like it as a glaze. I don't use glazes all that often but PB has 2 different glazes which I use.

    DIY: Headlight Lens Restoration

Have you ever used some sort of coating or protectant after polishing to prevent the oxidation from coming back?

    2005 Lexus GX470

Thanks guys! Not really ... it is a large vehicle so be prepared to spend more time on the paint than normal. Just watch out for that undercoating ... it's a major PITA, and if you can figure out a nice way to clean it, post up

    2005 Lexus GX470

It sure is a nice vehicle, drives nicely too. I really hate the Toyota undercoating in the rear wheel well. This, the 4 Runners and now the new Tundras have the undercoating and dirt just sticks to it like no tomorrow. It is nearly impossible to clean them, I wonder if a pressure washer would...

    2005 Lexus GX470

The detail up for today was a relative's 2005 Lexus GX470. As many others around the country, we have been having some weird weather recently. There have been rain showers almost every day for the past week and today looked to be promising. Right when I got the SUV there was a light shower but...

    WG SEALANT help asap!!!

Not really. There is no need to work in a sealant - all you want to do is evenly apply it to the surface on a slow speed. You only want a thin film of product on the paint, anything more will be a waste of product.
