i've never done it, and would remove the filter first, but i've also seen people use their steamer to blast through the hvac system. check out youtube.

yeah I just got confused by the adapter that they mention and I'm scratching my head wondering why I would need a rotary plate with an adapter for my DA and why I couldn't just buy the 3" threaded DA plate. Want to be sure I'm not missing something, because Ive wanted to get a 3" for a while.

For me this comes down to practicality. which one will you drive more? that one gets stored outside. It's less about which needs more protection and more about which one can go longer between cleaning because it's not driven as much.
