First Look: Mothers Waterless Wash & Wax

It's available on the west coast (where there are drought conditions and water restrictions) now at AutoZone, O'Reilly, Pep Boys and can be ordered at CarQuest. Your best bet is to order on-line from AutoGeek, who supports every product we make. Retailers only set their appearance chemical...

    Stinky problem-Help

AutoGeek has several - try one like the Griot's version. As the page says, open the container, add a little water and shut the vehicle up for hours. It works very well for cigarette smoke, so I'm thinking it would work for your need.

Have you considered a chlorine dioxide based product? AutoGeek offers several of them.

What stainless steel polish do you trust?

Stainless is considerable harder than aluminum. You need speed and an aggressive polish. Tape off the adjacent areas, and use something like our PowerBall Mini MD and its corresponding PowerMetal Scratch Removing Polish, or another aggressive metal polish. My experience is you'll never get...

    Dull chrome trim "belt line"

    I don't think it's chrome. Possibly it's anodized aluminum.

    Beware using nevr-dull on rims!!!

Try wiping other areas, and the other rims with the Nevr Dull and see if it occurs again. Sub-par refinishing can result in this occurring. Look closely where areas may have been sanded smooth and then repainted - try those areas.

    Beware using nevr-dull on rims!!!

Did you purchase it new, or used? If used, was it a Certified Pre-Owned? I've seen some refinished rims on CPO with issues like this. Just curious.

    Aggressive aluminum wheel polish?

Regardless of the brand you use (and several companies offer multi-levels of aggressiveness in metal polishes, Meguiar's and Mothers included), I'd suggest you use a cordless drill at a low (300 rpm or so) setting. A drill is more uniform in speed, so you'll get a more uniform result. You'll...

    Cleaning Bare Aluminum Wheels

Use plain ol' isopropyl alcohol to remove the oils left behind by the polishes.

Can I clean these wheels up?

The finish is not bare aluminum since it didn't turn black, so a metal polish would not be appropriate. It is probably a hyper finish, which is a hard, thin coating, and can't be polished. You could consider have them professionally refinished (~ $100 per rim) or just live with it. Good luck.

Can I clean these wheels up?

When you rub the lip with a metal polish, does it turn black immediately? If it does, they are bare metal. If it does not turn black, they are coated.

Meguiar's Deep Crystal Cleaner discontinued. Another company make something similar?

In the M line (Mirror Glaze, in the tan bottle) it's similar to 0216 Fine Cut Cleaner. We make 07100 Pure Polish, which is also a similar type of product.

Getting mirror shine on polished aluminum

Our PowerBall Mini MD is the type of foam you need. The shape of the PowerCone will get into that corner, but it's not aggressive enough. If you have an old cutting pad, you could cut it up. A Lake Country yellow pad would be a good choice. Follow it with the milder polish by machine, then...

Getting mirror shine on polished aluminum

VegasTransport has extensive experience with polishing, and has had amazing results. Follow suggestions from him and others in the know -those who live with aluminum every day. Restoring aluminum is the same process as paint, but the products are different . Transplant. Sorry for the typo

Getting mirror shine on polished aluminum

I'd suggest you go with a multi-step program. Sanding (start with 800, then 1500, then 2500 or so - all wet) and polish from there to remove the scratches. Then use your metal polish in steps to restore the finish. Or, try just the metal polishes below. The inability of our Mag & Aluminum...

You Saw it HERE First - Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax!

Waterless was about $250 thousand in 2014, but growing rapidly in 2015. Yes, it's a small number when you consider the entire market, but keep in mind that doesn't cover 100% of the market, and channels such as e-tail are not fully reported, so the number is bigger, but no one is certain of...
