    How to attack vw clearcoat

The UDM seems to be getting positive feedback. If i were in the market for a random orbital I'd likely purchase the UDM over the PC. The SSR polishes work well, but dust quite a bit. If you don't want to spend the extra money on Menzerna you may want to look into the Optimum line. They work...

Well, here's part of me. It's all I have in my photobucket library. I was going to write up a "How I wash" thread with pictures but just never got around to it. This is after the wash/dry doing an FK425 wipe down on my wife's car... And my dogs Kuma... ....and Sadie... My wife would...

    Advise on interior protectant

I didn't realize the OPT was lower priced. Thanks for the info. Perhaps I'll give it a try when I'm running low on 303

Great job on that car! I sympathize with you on detailing silver cars. For the owner they're great, as they conceal imperfections very well. But for that very same reason they make it difficult for a detailer to perfect. Nice job.

    Menzerna Glaze test!

Joy, I've restrained myself from responding to your posts simply because they irritate me, and I figure if I've nothing positive to say, say nothing at all. But I just have to chime in here. There's absolutely no reason to wetsand a car that does not need wetsanding just to see if a glaze will...

    ANTI STATIC QDer's......

FK425 is what I've been using for quite a while now, and see no reason to switch to anything else. Easy to apply/remove, slick shine, anti-static. On another note, I tend to think of an anti-static QD as a QD that does not attract dust, rather than one that actually repels it. I haven't...

When and what do I tape?

The only time I tape is when using the rotary. As long as you use a quality wax/sealant that doesn't stain trim I see no reason to tape anything off.

    Lost an old friend

So sorry to hear of your losing of your friend, alban. It's so difficult to make the decision to put a pet to sleep, but it's the right thing to do when the time comes. The curse of pets is that they just don't live long enough. I'm dreading the day I have to face it with my two dogs.

    Member Reputations

I think we may be referring to different boards. I meant autopia has been doing it for a while. But now looking at your screen shot I can see it's not autopia. Anyway, yes, I think if it were implemented well it's a good idea.

I like your ideas for improving it. It seems a bit under-utilized on the other board. The majority of users seem to all have the same one green dot.

I regularly use products from FK and CG, so I guess I'll go with those.

    Car wash Scratches

I haven't used the products mentioned, but more often than not the cars I detail require compounding. There have been a few cars that haven't needed it, but they were relatively new. Years of not polishing/protecting along with improper wash technique causes the swirls and scratches to build up.

Just ordered the Hitachi SP18VA(H)-few questions please

Yes, the edge adapter will work on the Hitachi. Haven't tried the wave pads, only the flat ones. I'm currently back to a velcro system though. 6.5" pads will work fine. They are what I prefer. I don't change backing plates. I just stick to the 4 3/4" plate using 6 1/2" pads.

    FWD vs. RWD

I despise FWD from a performance perspective - torquesteer and understeer. For something like a grocery-getter I'm fine with it. But if I'm looking for a performance drivetrain I'd only look @ RWD or AWD. Just my personal preference.
