What are mistakes you have made looking for a detailer? A detailing service?

Just go by their shop and look at their work. That's all I'd need to be convinced. No sense in being a PITA customer and wasting people's time with boring questions "what soap do you use, what clay bar and polish do you use". At the end of the day, if the job is done right, who gives a crap what...

So its getting into the colder weather now, I need to throw on some protection... suggestions?

To answer this point, nobody is "having fun in their driveway" doing ANYTHING during the winter months where I live (Chicago). With Hydr02, I recommended a product that is very quick and easy to use even in the winter months at a coin wash or a similar place when it's above freezing point. If...

So its getting into the colder weather now, I need to throw on some protection... suggestions?

You're really open minded to new products aren't you. You can use what you want bud, no need to get upset over other people's opinions and suggestions.

    BigBoi vs Metro Blaster Sidekick

Crazy story. Did you contact Metrovac about this issue? You should, we met them at SEMA a few years back and they are super friendly and open to suggestions about how to improve their products. We have about 4-5 of the side kicks at the shop and two of teh larger 4+4hp big blowers. Never had a...

So its getting into the colder weather now, I need to throw on some protection... suggestions?

If you want to stick with a wax or coating type product, do yourself a favor and just apply Carpro Hydr02 every month or so. It literally takes less than 5 minutes to do a car and offers insane beading if that's what you're after. I used to be a hardcore 485/476 user back in the day and swore by...

Thinking of getting a black car, that crazy?

Coatings definitely help alot with a black car.

Thinking of getting a black car, that crazy?

Yup, you just have to use common sense with black. For example if we correct and coat a jet black car at the shop and it ends up sitting for a few days (usually if a customer is out of town and can't pick up or the weather is bad), we end up blow dusting it with the 8hp Metrovac first and doing...

Thinking of getting a black car, that crazy?

PPF absolutely does NOT swirl up anywhere near as much as paint. Suntek, 3M, Stek, and XPEL are all self healing. XPEL would be my last option as their current product is alot more dull looking than it used to be and their self-healing top layer is inferior to the other mentioned brands. We've...

Thinking of getting a black car, that crazy?

Get a jet black and do a full vehicle PPF wrap on it. Self healing film will help keep it pretty much 100% swirl free, especially if you hand wash it. Best of both worlds.

So its getting into the colder weather now, I need to throw on some protection... suggestions?

Skip the wax and do a consumer based ceramic coating instead... this isn't 1973. I can't believe people still use 476 lol.

    Ceramiclear clearcoat

Flex 3410 and any typical Meguiars compound has always worked for me on Mercedes paints. Might require some more pressure on the machine but all in a day's work.

Help!!! Are these Holograms in my paint (2010 Audi S4)? Used FG400 and G21 w/MEGs MF Pad

I don't see any rust in the fenders. Just dirty felt liners and a pitted fender edge. That's normal wear and tear. To avoid that, you'd need to install PPF on that fender edge.

Pictures: New FLEX PXE 80 10.8-EC by Mike Phillips

I want this. Haven't had the desire to get a new machine in a while because I can do it all with my 3401 and Rupes ibrid, They really need to make a backing plate extension for this machine (like the ones they sell for rotaries) because the head is still really big and will be hard to get into...

    Flex 3401 Burnt Out (HELP)

Brushes are cheap. Replace those first. We have several Flex at the shop. Changed the brushes over a dozen times over the years on them. I've seen various symptoms before the machines died. Sometimes the machine would just go from 100% to not working at all. Other times, the trigger would act...

    Something better than aquapel?

Could, should. I am telling you, there are places in this world where rain water will Fk up your paint bad. It's not just sprinklers that cause damage. I've lived on 3 different continents and have seen this numerous times.

    Something better than aquapel?

I did not mean blow drying or rinsing rain water off your paint. Who tf does that? I meant, LSPs help with blow drying and rinsing your car during a regular wash process.

    Something better than aquapel?

You're in LA, some of the best weather in the US. Come to another city and you'll see some nasty acidic rain water that will cause water spots. I've seen it and it sucks.

    Something better than aquapel?

Anything you apply on your glass or paint that has a beading effect will cause water spotting. If you are trying to avoid water spotting, avoid waxing/coating altogether. Go in a mall parking lot after a heavy rain and look around. The cars that have no LSP applied on them dry in minutes after...
