    2011 Sierra 2500HD

I've really been surprised at the flexibility of M205, I feel like I put it's correction ability to the test with this one. Funny you mention it too, I've been curious about topping with an actual wax. I've had really good results with ULW for longevity, especially for a widely available...

Protecting/Preventing corrosion in my spotless engine and engine bay in my New vehicle

I've always used APC or just a wipe down with trim/plastic restorer. I've been hesitant spraying water and cleaner through my engine bay, but I know people who do so. I've got a 2015 GMC Sierra that's already showing oxidation on the exhaust manifold / engine block; but it's a truck not a show...

    2011 Sierra 2500HD

Just want to share my experience with a really, really, rough shape Sierra. I'm a weekend warrior detailer; more of a hobby right now just experimenting with different products and honing my skills. A friend of mine just purchased this truck and was interested in improving the paint finish for...

Cobra clay mitt vs clay bar

So I picked up a cobra clay mitt the other day and was excited to use on my latest detail. It seemed to me that it didn't pick up as much contaminants as a traditional clay bar. This was a severely neglected 2500HD so maybe that had something to do with it. I "seasoned" the mitt by using it...

    Stacking sealant and wax

So I just picked up M205 to experiment with along with Pinnacle Souveran Liquid Wax. My current experience is with the Megs Ultimate line (compound, polish, liquid wax). I'll be doing a light correction with the M205, followed by Pinnacle Souveran on a black Mercedes C300. I've been very...

    My first correction -- Questions

My MF towels were all used up from paint correction, haha. Nonetheless Ive used paper towels plenty of times (newspaper too) with no issues. I'm not ruling it out, however, I'm curious if UC had any contribution.

    My first correction -- Questions

Awesome feedback from everyone, I really appreciate it. My next endeavors will certainly include experimenting with the Meg's thin pads, MF pads, and other compounds. One last question I have is that I noticed a ton of hairline scratches on my windshield after this whole process. The only...

    My first correction -- Questions

It's a learning experience. This was my first go with a machine polisher. (I regularly hand wash and wax my vehicles, never gone further though) My melted pad looked sunken in the middle after a section. When I peeled it off I noticed the melting, and ended up tossing the pad. The backing...

    Wet Sand Paint Runs?

I guess my question would be what's the proper protocol. By the looks of it, there's a small dent which probably entailed a decent scuff which led the previous owner to just spray touchup paint over it. Therefore would you use sanding blocks to level/remove the touchup down to the oem...

    My first correction -- Questions

That's smart. I used one pad during the first half of compounding. (Cleaning on the fly as well) Again, slower, learning as I go. I started moving section to section quicker with the second pad as it was getting late and I felt I had a rhythm going. But that's when I noticed the melting...

    My first correction -- Questions

I agree, over saturation could have been an issue. I typically used 3 pea-dime size drops on the outer edge of the pad for each panel. It seemed to me the edges of the pad looked dry after completing a section, and the middle still had product in it. Even so, after 5-6 section passes, I was...

    My first correction -- Questions

Thanks guys, I figured the truck would be easy with large flat panels, but man oh man is there a lot of surface area. My body is paying for it today. By the way, I reference ULC or ULP above, I mean ULW.

    My first correction -- Questions

This weekend I decided to embark on my first paint correction with my new GG6. I stocked up with a variety of 5.5" and 4" LC flat foam pads (associated 5" and 3.5" BPs), and the whole meguiars ultimate line. (Compound, polish, and liquid wax). Vehicle: my semi-neglected 2010 Silverado...

    Wet Sand Paint Runs?

Are there potential problems if we don't know how the touchup was done? Correct me if I'm wrong, however in order to level out runs, you're sanding the paint layer smooth. I'm honestly not sure if there was a clear coat put over this spot or not. Is this an issue?

    Wet Sand Paint Runs?

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I'll give it a try soon and post the results.

    Wet Sand Paint Runs?

Couple more bits of information, I've owned the truck for 2 1/2 years or so, not sure if that factors in to the touch up paints hardness, etc. And the overall irregular area is about the size of your palm with the paint runs limited to a smaller section. (Also not sure what they did to have...

    Wet Sand Paint Runs?

I've got a 2010 Silverado that has some paint runs from the previous owner's attempted touch up. The color matches perfectly, and honestly you can't see it unless you know it's there. However, it does have some noticeable runs and a non-smooth texture. Therefore I was wondering if I could wet...
