Question regarding the “no tools required” 3M HL Restoration Kit

I had really good results with the 3M kit. It was the drill kit that also uses the 500, 800 and 3000 grit discs. I just followed the instructions exactly, dry sanding for the first 2 steps, then wet sanding the last step. I used a corded drill so that I wouldn't have to worry about inconsistent...

Which MF towels should I buy?

I like the Gold Plush Jr's. They're good at everything.

    Sanding discs for headlights

If I were doing a ton of headlight restorations, I would buy the 3M discs in bulk. I had excellent results with their kit which uses these discs: 3M 500 3 inch Sanding Discs, 50 per box 3M 800 3 Inch Sanding Discs, 50 per box 3M Trizact Hookit 3 Inch Foam Discs P3000, 3m spot repair discs...

Irradiating an Iridiam Blue Red Sport 400

Great work! That's a gorgeous colour that deserves the care. On another note, these cars are a great value. For the same money as a BMW 340i or Lexus IS350, the Q50 has 80hp more than the other 2. Exterior styling is tied for 1st with the BMW (IMO). I checked out all 3 at this years autoshow...

    Faded plastics

I like CarPro DLux. It really darkened up my faded plastic, as well as even out some weird streaking that had developed. Been holding up about 8 months so far, and still looking good. I will admit though, coating my trim was my first ever experience with a coating, and it was pretty...

How to Clean Pads After Using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

Same goes for Towel Kleen. When used as a detergent in the washing machine, it's fine and you can't smell or feel anything. But once you dilute it, and start spraying it from a bottle, it becomes atomized in the air around you and is quite harsh. If you're using Towel Kleen this way, make sure...

Trying to decide between Meg's D101 and Optimum Power Clean

These two were my final choices in deciding on an APC a few years ago. They both seem to be very highly rated. What ultimately made my decision, is that OPC is advertised as being able to use on leather. Where D101 wasn't (at least as far as I could tell). This was sort of important to me for...

How to Clean Pads After Using Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

I've found the same thing with Collinite 845. I use 3D Towel Kleen, kneed as much as I can out of the pad, repeat once or twice more, then dry. I give u after that. It's a finishing pad, so I just reserve it for future 845 applications.

Air Force One... shining a part of American history.

Great results, and great team work! I love the emphasis on safety too. These jobs certainly had unique challenges in that regard.

Need 3" backing plate and pads and an AIO

I have a 3" backing plate and flat pads from Lake Country that I use on my PC7424XP. The 3" flat pads are about 1.25" tall, so it helps keep the large buffer away from the intricate areas where you need a small pad.

Carpro Perl - 1st use, quik review

What's the shelf life of PERL? I know some CarPro products have an expiry sticker on the bottom of the bottle.

    Help me choose which AIO

I think AIO followed by LSP is flawed logic. If I was going to spend the extra time doing a second pass, I'd use polish and an LSP.

Tried the Big Red Sponge today...

I've never liked the idea of using a sponge to wash a car. Especially with a rinseless wash. For rinseless washes I use the Gary Dean method and am pretty happy with it. Only downside is the wet, dirty towels that afterwards that need laundering. And maybe the cost of extra, decent quality MF...

    MEGS D156 As drying aid

Agreed. I similarly use UWW+ as my drying aid. It's much more economical. I don't like the idea of "watering down" my D156. Seems like it wouldn't be as effective. UWW+ achieves the same purpose, but I don't feel bad spraying it onto a wet car. I prefer using D156 on a dry car to get both the...

Preference in Tire and Wheel cleaners

I use Meguiar's D143. It works well as both a wheel cleaner and a tire cleaner. It's a great value, and I love the versatility.

Recommend some detail brushes I can use on wheels and engine bay

I use the large Speedmaster brush for engine bays, the large Wheel Woolie for the barrels of my wheels, and a wash mitt for the wheel faces. I'd like to get a boar's hair brush for the wheel faces at some point though.

    ONR one bucket or two

This is how I do my rinseless washes as well: one bucket, no grit guard and lots of edgeless MF towels. Watch Mike's video.

    Microfiber cleaner?

+1 for Towel Kleen! I'm very happy with it. Works great, versatile, and a good value. Towel Kleen can be used as a pad cleaner too at 4:1. I'll throw the pads into the washing machine with Towel Kleen after hand washing them too. I picked up those tricks from people on this forum. 16x16" PFM...

    Steering wheel cleaning

I've cleaned a couple of greasy / sticky steering wheels using a light APC dilution (I use OPC at 3:1) on a microfiber cloth. Wipe down a second microfiber damp with water to neutralize the APC. Then follow up with some kind of interior protectant (I use 303 AP). Maybe that last step is...
