Brand new car: ceramic coating alternative to CQuartz?

I used Cquartz for years and was never really blown away. Used Cquartz TIO2, Cquartz UK, UK 2.0, then moved on to Max Protect UNC-R (amazing coating actually), Kamikaze Myobi coat topped with Overcoat. Then I gave up on coatings for a bit when I swapped out a couple cars. Bought into the...

    3M Ceramic Coating?

I see this often. Most ceramic coatings take weeks to fully cure. It can be accelerated with the use of IR lamps or parking in direct sunlight. Meguiar's HPC advertises some TrueCure technology. What exactly that means I don't know but it seems to me they are saying their product will cure...

    adams vrp vs CarPro Perl

For tires I'd say yes. I use Hyper-Dressing on engines just by spraying and it self levels. I'm not sure if Duragloss would do the same there. Wheel wells too. And I haven't used Duragloss on interior trim although it's advertised to spruce up floor mats.

Hydrophobicity of CSL vs Cquartz Lite?

Solid sheeting there. I bet the self cleaning is great.

    adams vrp vs CarPro Perl

Haven't used VRP but I do use Meguiar's Hyper-Dressing and Duragloss #253 and compared both to Perl. Perl has some acrylic in it that makes me believe it is an in between dressing and coating product (tire coatings like Tuff Shine seem to be acrylic based). While Perl was a little more durable...

Are there any spray sealants that are worth it?

I gave away my SNS too. That has to be the most hyped product. I preferred the results from Turtle Wax ICE spray wax by a long shot. I agree with everything you say about it. And the kicker for me was while it wins all these short term durability torture tests it didn't last any longer...

How much to charge for ceramic coating

That depends. My 2016 Cadillac ATS-V was solid black and it had soft paint that was pretty easy to correct and pretty easy to haze up.

    3M Ceramic Coating?

I heard that had to do with not being able to get the packaging they needed. Which sounds weird but with Covid who knows? I've also heard that Meguiar's has been limited in what chemistry they can use in the US because of the health risks of most coatings. They want to avoid the liability...

How much to charge for ceramic coating

Impossible to say because pricing varies but location. What you pay in Detroit vs Chicago vs LA vs Miami will be different. Markets are all different. Some people will charge $450 and others will be $2000. Calculate what your price would be for what you want to make. Then compare to what...

Why did AG discontinue Ultimate Fast Finish?

Meguiar's will only have it at select retailers. You can read into that they are moving away from offering that product. I bet the only retailers that still have it are the ones that choose not to carry their newest Hybrid Paint Coating. Fast Finish likely will not last 1 year either. They...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Yeah I was picking up what you were putting down. I must have taken a dozen pictures with the iPhone 12 and none of them really show what the truck looks like in person. I picked the best two to post.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

No they really do not translate digitally what the eyes see in person. Maybe after the next wash I'll pull out the A7RIV and see if that does a better job.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I agree. Chrysler, I mean FCA, I mean Stelantis.... has always had great paint. Right in the middle or a tad closer to the hard side. No games with thinning, etc. And their metallic paint is pretty nice. I wanted Granite Crystal on this one and had to work hard to find this truck in...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Finally started driving the RAM since being polished and then protected with Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating. Put the coating on everything but glass and tires. Glass received Gtechniq G1 on windshield and Gtechniq G5 on the rest. Tires have Meguiar's Hyper-Dressing on them.

Pressure Washer Spray Gun - What's yours?

A couple years ago I bought a cheap Ryobi pressure washer with a custom MTM M407 gun setup with swivel. I was pretty happy with it overall even though my pressure washer struggled to output more than ~700psi. But it was nicer to use to wash cars than my 4000psi 4GPM gas pressure washer. Low...

Removing Paint Overspray on Vinyl Wrap

Meguiar's professional blue clay is mild. Their red is aggressive. The white in the consumer kit is the lightest touch but I've read that might be really low quality clay now. The blue stuff is probably ok.

What did you do today non-detailing related?

Sold my Model 3. Driven only 1000 miles in the last year due to working from home. It went to a great Tesla family. Used car prices are crazy now. Didn't think it would actually sell but supply is low and demand is high. Especially for trucks! Check Vroom and Carvana if you have a...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Nice. Just ordered one for myself. Not something I use often but when I need it'll be a big help.

Wheel Coatings (mine is Pinnacle Black Diamond) - Will an Iron Remover wheel cleaner damage the coating?

Mike usually says things like "If I use Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner will I add durability to my coating? If not then what's the opposite of add?" I am paraphrasing here. You should not need to use aggressive wheel cleaners on wheels that are coated. Regular car soap and a contact wash...

    Flex Supa Beast

Gear driven orbital and microfiber are not a good combination. You'll get the walking effect much more with microfiber. If you need aggressive correction try a wool pad. You may just need to practice holding the polisher when you move it across the paint too. Knowing how to lift/tilt to...
