So what's the replacement for Turtle Wax Tire Coat?

I have always been partial to TufShine Tire Coating. I like the shiny look so I applied 3 coats. It’s dry to the touch and lasts about 8 months. Just clean the tires with car soap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The wife’s Buick got a brand new windshield. Even a new factory windshield has embedded contaminants. It required cleaning, claying, polishing, cleaning again and then sealing with Aquapel. The Aquapel directions suggest using a paper towel to buff the product off. There is no way a paper towel...

How To Wash Your Car At A Self Serve Car Wash

I often use those self serve bays for my company car when I am on the road. They are a great way to dress up the vehicle and remove the grime. He is absolutely right about the scratchmaster 5000 brush. I did cringe when I saw pressure washer hose drag along the bedrail. I often bring wash mitts...

Wolfgang Si02 rinseless wash leaves haze

I never used their SiO2 product but I use Wolfgang Uber all of the time. That dilution ratio is 1 oz per 3 gallons of water. Perhaps you can use that ratio instead. The presoak is not necessary and it is important to do one panel at a time. The type of towel you are using is also important. Try...

Dealer added “Paint protection”. Should I get my own instead?

I would not trust a dealer added anything. Take it to a professional or do your research, buy the products and tools and then do it yourself.

Do you still use a sealant?

Absolutely. I enjoy the activity of applying sealants and waxes and I am always looking to try different products. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, Collinite 476S & 845 are some of my favorites. I just tried the Griots all in one Ceramic. The jury is still out on that one.

    Ford Expedition

Wow, that is awesome and a vehicle that size takes a long time. That color can hide a lot of sins but not that many sins. The results are worth all of the work.

How long should a decon + compound/polish + ceramic coat take to complete?

I'm old so it takes me an entire weekend starting on Friday afternoon and ending on Sunday night to do a complete detail which includes wash, decon, clay, compound, polish and sealant on my truck. A professional shop has a crew of 3 or 4 young guys that will work on the vehicle and knock it out...

    Truck Panel

I did work on the panel last year with orange pads and 501 but it never completely cleared up the finish. The yellow pads seemed to work.

    Zep vs simple green

I do use an RTU type spray bottle to measure the dilution ratios. I add 2 oz of concentrate and fill the rest with water up to the neck of the bottle. I have never had a problem with Simple Green damaging plastics or removing paint. Perhaps the dilution was not enough. 2:1 or 4:1 may be too...

    Zep vs simple green

I am not sure about Zep products but I do know that Simple Green is a safe pH neutral cleaner when diluted 10:1. In concentrate, the pH level is about 8.8. When diluted 10:1 it goes down to 7.759 which is safe for the delicate surfaces of interiors.
