Best spray product for keeping windshield clear in the rain?

It has been over a month and the Invisible Glass Cleaner with Repellant is still working well. The water is still rolling off when moving and beading up when stationary.

Looking for a "cheap" effective water filter

I use the inline filter from Griots Garage. I don't know about "cheap" but it is an easy way to provide clean rinse water. I can get about 5 washes out of a filter until it changes from green to purple. I only use it during the final rinse since the filters can get expensive at $145 a piece. I...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I am not a big fan of Hyundai but that is a sharp looking vehicle.

Keeping Steering Wheel as Clean as Possible

It depends on the steering wheel material. If it is a classic car with a thermoplastic steering wheel, then a diluted APC with multiple microfiber towels and a lot of hard work will get it clean. If it is a leather wrapped steering wheel, then a leather or interior cleaner and a Sonax brush will...

My local ceramic coating snake oil operation

My brother in law bought a Kia Stinger and he was all excited about the great deal he got. For only an extra $1000 they added Simoniz Glasscoat at the dealership. They told him that he will never have to wax his car again. I didn't have the heart to tell him that he got taken. He was too proud...

    New Car Towel Recommendations

Definitely the Griots PFM for drying. It can be costly but it is a superb towel. I can dry the entire truck with one towel and never have to wring it out. Get the extra large edgeless type.

Best spray product for keeping windshield clear in the rain?

As far as a spray on cleaner is concerned, I really like Invisible Glass with Rain Repellent. It lasts a couple of months and Invisible Glass is one of my favorite glass cleaners. I have tried the Griots Ceramic Glass Cleaner and while I am a big fan of Griots products, I did not like it. It...

Fairly glossy water based tire dressing?

I like the glossy look and you can achieve that with Duragloss 253 if you apply 2 or 3 coats. I have also recently tried Griots Black Shine and that provides a great gloss. If you use the Griots, don’t use the pump sprayer. The product will never go through the nozzle and the nozzle will stop...

    Rinseless Washes - 2022

I do wring out the wash mitts each time they go through the rinse bucket so extra dilution is not an issue. I also use 3 or 4 wash mitts per vehicle.

    Go to Towels

All towels serve a different purpose. My favorites are the Griots PFM for drying, Speed Master Waffle Weave and Griots Crinkle for glass, Rag Company Eagle Edgeless for applying spray on wipe off products, and Griots PFM dual weave wax removal towels.

NEW Griot's Garage Ceramic Tire Dressing - Any good?

I was curious about it as well. I am a big fan of Griots products and I am always searching for the perfect tire dressing. I have been using their Black Shine tire gel and I love the high gloss. Their Ceramic Tire Dressing seems to have more of a matte finish but it will probably last a lot...

No one on my block washes their cars

I am the only guy in my neighborhood who washes his car in the winter, in shorts, and a t shirt. I do notice that whenever I go outside and start a detailing session, my next door neighbor all of the sudden goes outside and starts washing his car. He does a half assed job but at least he...

    Rinseless wash sponges

I have traveled to and through Chicago many times and have been stuck quite a few times. I have found that there were more problems in the summer than there were in the winter. The thunderstorms seemed to be a bigger problem than the snow.

    Rinseless wash sponges

I have done many rinseless washes and I am a big fan. I also do have a rinseless sponge but I have not used it yet. I do plan on trying it one of these days but I always gravitate toward my chenille wash mitts.

    Learn me about ph level

APCs are often alkaline in nature since most stains are acidic in nature. Any liquid with a pH below 7 is considered acidic and any liquid above 7 is considered basic. A cleaner that is pH neutral can have a value between 6 and 8. You can change the pH value of a concentrate by adding water. The...

Beating the cold -- detailing in winter?

Oh yeah. I always make sure that the surface I am working on is in the sun. I usually have to turn the car once.

Door Jambs - Pre or Post Wash

Definitely do door jambs last. Water always seems to get on the jambs even after a rinseless wash.

Beating the cold -- detailing in winter?

This thread has been posted very often through the years during this time of year. I personally love detailing during the freezing cold since I stay cool and I don't sweat. If it is above 25 degrees, I will do a rinseless wash in the driveway. If the garden hose is frozen, I will blast the...
