Wanting to detail full time - Looking for advice

It sounds like the mobile routine is the best way to start. Your startup costs will be a lot less but you can still form an S corporation and feel like a real business owner. After you build your reputation and start collecting steady customers, you may want to look at a permanent shop if you...

Your thoughts on vehicle service maintenance

The service department of a dealership is a money maker but at my dealership, it is also a great option. I have purchased three vehicles from the same dealership and they take good care of my cars. They usually have the parts in stock and they have all of the factory diagnostic equipment. My...

A little common sense before washing towels

Good idea. I have always hosed off my wash mitts but not the towels. The ones that end up falling on the ground usually go through a process of picking debris out of the fibers, much like gorillas picking bugs out of each other's hair.

A lot of the newer models have a flat color to the paint. Does this have any metal flake?

**The real reason tunnel washes are horrible for your car**

The brushes did minimal damage to the paint because he traveled faster than the linear speed of the rotation. He ended up parked perfectly between the lines and the vacuum hose fell right into place.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

They ordered a new one for me in October but I have no idea when it’s coming in. Fleet vehicles are at the bottom of the list.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It was too cold for the garden hose so the Worx Hydroshot was a great substitute. Then I finished it with Griots Rinseless wash. The work car is just a rental but it’s my rental and it’s going to be clean. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Griots ceramic 3-1

I love the look of the Griots 3 in 1 but it can leave streaks on a darker vehicle. A little product goes a long way. It is not as slick as Beadmaker but it leaves a great shine. This is my truck after a layer of 3 in 1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Foam cannon / foam in general

Foam is fun! It took me a while to get the right combination of foam cannon, soap, water, cannon setting but now I got a great recipe. The foam booster makes a big difference. The foam is thicker and it clings longer to the surface.

Foam cannon / foam in general

MTM 225 foam cannon with DP Detailer’s extreme foam soap with Blackfire foam booster. I used the same mixture in a cheap foam cannon and the foam wasn’t as good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Watch this technique...kinda surprised here!

I don't feel comfortable touching the salty panel of a vehicle until it has been treated with a blast of water. If it is too cold for the garden hose then I first give it a blast with the Worx Hydroshot. Other times I will go to the local coin op self serve and give it a blast of their high...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Thanks JD. I have had people offer me $15,000-$20,000 for the truck but I still want to hold on to it. A new truck that I would like costs $60,000+. I bought it in August 2008 when gas was over $4.00 a gallon and they were giving away trucks and SUVs. I got a great deal. Today it only has 90,000...

I take the truck to the dealer for it's routine service and all of the techs are amazed at the condition and the year. The service manager told me to hold on to it as long as I can. New trucks today are selling at $7000-$8000 more than sticker and the basic minimum truck is $50,000.

    Cleaning floor mats

I also have Weathertechs and use their dedicated cleaner and protectant. The cleaner did not do such a great job on the first attempt so I used straight Megs D101 with a small brush. That seemed to clean the heavy grime much better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

drying towel , 1 big towel or 2 small ones?

Sound advice. I personally like the big towels especially for the roof and hood. Smaller towels are better for the lower sections but I still fold the smaller towels to make sure that no part of it will hit the ground.
