    beater car suggestions?

The plan is, if its not too expensive, to have my mechanic inspect whatever car we plan to buy. Hopefully we can avoid a ticking time bomb that way. But if we run into several crap cars, we will spend a lot of money on inspections. All I want to do to whatever I buy is an oil change at most. I...

    beater car suggestions?

Yeah that was my concern as well in regards to salvage title and mileage. But the saab would be more "interesting" than the other two I think. Right now I have sent an email out about the mazda as there is no number listed that I saw; its the "newest" with lowest miles for its age. My 05 Altima...

    beater car suggestions?

Yeah he just took it down awhile ago. It was really clean, actually kinda bummed as its a neat looking hatchback with white paint and black steelies, looked slick honestly. It looked just like this one. Anyways while were on the subject. I came across this C4/1991 Corvette *OBO* Aghhhh...

    beater car suggestions?

Thanks for the responses guys. 1-1.5k really is my max, as I don't make all that much money as I work part time and go to school. Idea is to learn on something cheap, then sell it and save up for a new used car down the line. I wouldn't have any plans on keeping it for more than a few months Id...

    beater car suggestions?

Me and my brother want to learn to drive stick and we were thinking of going halves on a cheap beater we can learn on and then get rid of once we got it and are bored of the car. Was thinking of trying to stay around 1-1.5k. I am of course limited to what I can find locally, but do you guys...

has anyone here lost interest in detailing?

Wouldn't be surprised. I try to not let the paint bother me as the car is fun to drive and I beat on it all the time at the drag strip and such and it takes it like a champ. Its just when I look at the paint it bums me out. Makes it hard for me to be proud as everyone I know knows I take care of...

has anyone here lost interest in detailing?

I tried opticoat but it never stuck to my car for some reason. I now just wash my car once a once and usually spray wax it every or every other wash.

has anyone here lost interest in detailing?

Ask Nissan why they used such crappy paint. Part of me wants to part with my car just to get something new and different. Been looking at c4/c5 vettes lately and would like one of those to be my next ride. But my car has been so dang reliable(and its fully paid off) that it seems foolish to...

has anyone here lost interest in detailing?

I have for the most part. I still wash it properly, but that's the most I put into it as well as a spray wax every once in awhile. Not interested in fixing swirls or scratches anymore as the paint is too delicate.. The reason I lost interest is my cars paint, it just sucks. The roof's clear...

Used car shopping, not sure which would be better

Dunno if it helps or is relevant, but my 05 Altima, since I bought it at 66k and its now at 116k, the only major repair was replacing the ac pump and all the lines. I havnt done a single thing since other than oil changes and the serpentine belt. Car is rock solid.

At what point do you decide to stop spending money on your car?

I guess should have been more clear. For the mechanical bits, I have no plans to stop fixing it as I want to keep this car for many years to come (its already paid off). Its just appearance wise. I would love to get the whole car repainted or just the parts in trouble (rear bumper, hood, roof...

At what point do you decide to stop spending money on your car?

My Altima is nearing 10 years of life. It has many paint issues and it bums me the heck out. The roofs clear coat is failing (the first bit of white cc and coming out), the hood is also showing signs of failure, some jerkoff backed into my car and luckily only hit the hood, but the lip got...

    Car wash fund-Raisers

I remember participating in one of these when I was in highschool. Our volleyball team hosted one of these. I vividly remember using dishsoap, those tan colored stiff bone shaped 99 cent sponges, and old beach towels to dry. All towels left on the ground when not in use and we could wash an...

    Duragloss

Im about to pick up a gallon of aqua wax soon as well. Trying to see what else I need before I make an order. I usually like to try different products, but aqua wax is so damn perfect I don't see the point. Its perfect in every way, not a single con I can think of. Fantastic durability (4-5...
