    Laundry Detergent for engine bay

Did a search just for fun. A "frugal" website endorsed it, but they used powdered detergent, which is "gritty". Assuming the grit wouldn't plug the sprayer.... more scrubbing power? Sounds good, but "sound" doesn't clean engines. :)

    Does Megs Ultimate Wax streak?

Quit following the directions! It's very important to apply too much and leave it on too long and not follow directions. Attention to details like the above will ensure streaking. I should know. :) Finally, Last time, I took a microfiber applicator with a very minute nap, wet it, wrung it...

Using a Porter Cable 7424xp to wax wood furniture

Richy, IMO great post and good work! What a great way to learn the characteristics of various products. Do you find a certain product line is more forgiving on wood finishes? Would these be better for newbs with more delicate paints/older clearcoat?

    Good APC for engine use?

:iagree: Except, first I spray everything with ONR, agitate, let it run off... Remaining spots get the same treatment with Megs APC+ 10:1... By then the really stubborn areas show up and get dedicated cleaner, agitate, etc.... Rest of the season: ONR [using a sprayer] so I don't have to...

    Microfiber towel packing suggestion

Everytime I don't prewash my new M/F's, when I use them to apply QD, the moist lint eventually gets wet and rolls up in to hard, tiny, round detail boogers which are much harder than wet cardboard. One of the reasons I use a M/F towel is because they pick up contaminants. Then I wash them...

What should I use to measure 1 ounce?

I bought an 8oz cheapo squeeze bottle from a beauty supply place. Marked it off with a marker at 1oz intervals adding 1oz of water at a time. Filled it with ONR and now it only takes a couple of squeezes in to the wash bucket.

    Experimenting with ONR

You are right and I think I learned that from one of your posts and I follow your advice for a normal ONR wash. If I showed you how dirty the cars have been you'd be amazed....it'd be "car porn". Water restrictions and homeowner associations are a pain. It only seems complex because of the...

    Experimenting with ONR

I tried to conserve and also save money by making 2-3 gallons of ONR at higher strength and use that for both the spray and mitt. After I am done with the wash I run my hand over the horizontal surfaces to see if I need to clay. The spay works well. Clayed areas get re-waxed, then I...

    Experimenting with ONR

Appreciate the great feedback. I guess I was experimenting to see how dirty a car can get before ONR is no longer safe to use. The vehicles have been well maintained with regular washes and high quality waxes. I use a duster to keep the water as clean as possible as dust just turns to mud...

    Experimenting with ONR

Hi everybody, I have been playing with ONR and wanted to share as I haven't contributed for a while. Daily drivers only: 1. California duster to entire car. 2. Fill three gallon bucket. Add 2 oz of ONR. Fill 5 gallon bucket with water and grit guard. Fill 1 quart spray...

    Hard vs Soft waxes

This make sense to me if I understand correctly: Both soft and hard will result in pretty much the same finish. Trying to do a KISS, so I can remember. Not sure if I did. So I guess a hard wax makes it easier to apply a thin coat. Then a second soft/liquid coat will insure full coverage...
