How to tell when polish is broken down on white vehicles

Any other senior members feel their experienced sense of touch works as well as an experienced visual inspection?. A change in resistance versus translucence? Any tips for visually challenged newbs? (For some of us over 50....vision seems to be the second thing to go)

Tips and techniques for using detailing clay

Especially good for me was the kneading, then the positioning of the clay in the hand. Controlling the clay sure helps keep from dropping it when unexpectedly having to stop. [I know I have to throw it away if I drop it. And I do. But, have always wondered why I can't just re-knead...

New Microfiber washign routine worked out well.

:xyxthumbs::xyxthumbs: (For whatever it's worth, I add soap little by little after the washer starts agitating until I just start to get suds. Helps keep from adding too much soap.)

    Meguirs Ultimate Protectant

I am a "seasoned newb".....You seem pretty open-minded and I would like to get a small sample of another "top of the line product" so I can experiment, compare and learn. What's the next best in your opinion. Thanks :) I'm 100% Megs, and right now I feel like Tiger Woods cheating on his...

Car detailing articles by Mike Phillips

Re: Articles by Mike Phillips I think the articles also allow many respected senior members add to them with their unique experience. MOL is still evolving because of that. Helps everyone teach each other, even newbs. IMO

    Meguirs Ultimate Protectant

    Meguirs Ultimate Protectant

Mike P. was discussing the dust issue on another forum. As I recall, He was talking about how every wax or sealant he had ever tested on paint attracted dust. Something to the effect that unprotected paint attracts less dust. He also said that it was a trade off: "Do you want protection or no...

Saturday, February 20th at 10:30am EASTERN Time - Porter Cable Video Segment on Two Guys Garage

Thanks for the heads up Mike. Just happened to see this post at 7:31. Really worth watching. (A confidence booster.) TV voice sounded focused and swirl free for the amount of info in such a short amount of time. How many "takes" for the segment? Liked the demo of using the PC on the back of the...

    Meguirs Ultimate Protectant

Here are the directions per the AG Store: Apply a thin layer of Meguiars Ultimate Protectant onto desired surface with a soft microfiber or foam applicator. Rub it in and let dry. I started with the least aggressive media (foam pad): On my 22 year old black trim, I took a foam pad...

Things to watch out for when Engine Cleaning/Detailing

I went to the link and found this: "For what you want to do you want to use a spray and wipe product with enough degreasing power to loosen and remove the ... oil film ... without worrying about staining any surface of dulling any surface down.... One product you might look into is Meguiar's...

The 4 minimum categories of wiping cloths

Thank you for this post and I hope you do another about the logistics of storage and access for the 4 types. (Not sure if I should start another thread.) Anyway, for mobile detailers, and those (like me) with space problems: I am using a duffel as sometimes I go to friends houses. I put...

Whew. Was considering doing that before my first engine detail. Gotta figure out if it is an electrical issue or an aluminum issue. Saved by AG again.
