Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Thanks Todd, I contacted the customer today and plan on using Dawn and Paint cleaner to strip his hood. Then Use a Menzerna finishing polish before using a Black Wax product to help hide the little White imperfections. My cutting pad was not compromised and no other panel shows what the hood...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Thanks Ralph, Your right, the tree sap spots were deep, I didnt have much effect on them. The customer described "these little spider web " isolated spots, when I looked at it, they seem like paint damage. I have to google these things, they do look little miniscule spider webs and go below the...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

Thanks for the reply, I didn't use Palmolive or anything to strip it with. I'll say this though, the scattered random pattern of various minor paint defects are indicitive of typical road wear on a hood, nowhere else like that on the vehicle. I think I exposed all the rock scrapes, etc. but they...

Two stage buff out- could use some advice

I just completed a two step buff out of a 2006 Black Silverado, the results were spectacular, mirror like shine.I claybarred then used my Flex D.A. with the Blue LC Hydrotech pad and Meg's Ultimate Compound for the first step. Then the Orage Hydro Tech polishing pad with Meg's 205. Here's the...

    Mytee Lite II 8070 Upgraded

Detail King's stock was already onto the latest version by Feb. this year.Just to confirm though, I emailed Mytee with the Serial # and they said it was the 3 stage motor.

    Mytee Lite II 8070 Upgraded

Quick update, I spoke with Nathan at Mytee today. He confirmed the lift is at 130 inches like their website states. As I've slowed down my vacuuming technique and let it pull as much water out as possible, my drying times on seats/floors has really increased. I'm really glad I bought it, I think...

Tire Dressing for use in a tank Applicator

Just picked up a Tank with brush applicator to speed up tire dressing work. The dressing I use now is non-silicone and sets up well on engines, just ok on tires. Anyone have a dressing that is non-silicone but had some staying power, that can be used in a tank? My Optibond gel will be used on my...

    taxes

Hi Daniel, I just went through this earlier this year, there are some good threads on this topic if you do a search. You should charge sales tax on everything you do or sell. Also, Your Tax Accountant would be best to talk to as far as the income tax bracket, be ready for some sticker shock...

What kind of Vacuum is everyon using these days?

I just upgraded to the Ridgid 5 HP Toolbox style wet vac and it works great and fits much better for packing in your vehicle. You'll want to order the 7 ft. extension hose to add on some lenth. Home Depot has it for $99.00. RIDGID 4.5-Gal. Wet/Dry Vac-WD4522 at The Home Depot

    Mytee Lite II 8070 Upgraded

I taped 2 small towels around mine to to make it safer. It really has performed great on everything I've used it on, the pre-treatment is the key as other guys have posted. When in doubt if I'm on a 15 amp breaker or not, Mytee said to just turn off the heat switch and it knocks the draw down to...

    Question for Mobile Detailers

We agreed on a number last night and I found out what affected her decision making. She's had (Craigslist) detailers come to her house and wash/dry vac, and dress tires for $40.00. Another did it for $50.00 and put a light coat of wax on it too. One of them did not believe in using Soap as he...

    Question for Mobile Detailers

Thanks Swanci, I'm feeling a little bad if she and I can't agree on a number, it takes time to setup/teardown though. It's a top of the line Mecedes and she takes incredible care of it. We did agree on a wash and wax for $75.00, with no interior work being done but she seemed hesitant at...

    Question for Mobile Detailers

I am trying to arrive at a fair price that a customer wants as a weekly wash, dry, light vacuum, dress the tires. Since I use a $40.00/hr. labor rate (which I think is reasonable), I'm about to suggest $40 for the weekly wash. Not sure what her reaction will be today, is that about average?

Brake dust baked into wheel finish

I don't have pics, it would look like the common problem you see on wheels that don't get any true maintenance.Kind of a " burnt" look in the corners of each spoke around the rim. I'd be willing to give Sonax a try if it's good on the problem work.

Brake dust baked into wheel finish

Looking for suggestions, I use Wolfgang Uber Wheel cleaner and follow it with a 1/10 mixture of APC on the tougher jobs. Had a customer today that had brake dust, dirt, etc. in his rims, I had to go to 0000 Steel wool with a strong soap for lubricant , but still wound up lightly scratching the...

    Body shop Glue removal

A potential customer had me look at his car today, a body shop fastened the exterior door guard plastic years ago and the glue pushed out from the piece and onto his paint. He asked if I could remove it. I have Goo Gone and some strong acid based Concrete/Sap remover. Anyone have something that...

    Mytee Lite II 8070 Upgraded

Your right Setec, It is confusing and it would be nice to have Mytee say something. I've been using the 8070 model on full extractions lateley and the seats were dry about 2.5 hrs. later, the lift seems outstanding. I did throw a breaker once though, so it does prefer the 20...

    detail king products

I just went through their training, and they were great. Good guys and knowledgable. I plan on going to Mike's training at some point too and will try to work that into a future vacation. I'm using both sites for products, so far D.T. King's products have worked well for me.
