    Attn Collinite 845 users...question

What I use on my 845 is a pop-up top from an old bottle of dishwashing liquid. It makes dispensing much easier and screws on perfectly. Make sure to rinse the top thoroughly before using! As for the viscosity, it starts out extremely thick but you need to shake it until it becomes the...

OK I Need a New Canopy Quick!!

I'm looking at getting a canopy myself since I don't have a carport and my garage is used for storing just about everything except a car. I'm not planning on leaving it up 24/7 or using it in the rain, it'll just be used as shade for when I'm polishing and waxing. I found a 10x20 for $149.99 at...

    Should I feel bad?

As long as you're using your own tools, products and workspace (ie: your personal garage/driveway) and it's only for a couple of close friends that's fine. To help ease your mind, I'd give these friends business cards so that when people ask who shined up their car, they're saying "oh, my buddy...

Nasty Dodge Durango Interior (lots of pics)

Thanks for the warning. I was originally going to use one of those but after seeing these pics I'm going to use OxyClean + PC + ShopVac.

Nasty Dodge Durango Interior (lots of pics)

Spring's coming up here so I've been putting together my shopping list. After seeing these pics I have to add a carpet brush for my PC along with some DP Interior Cleaner. You've also taught me a great technique for cleaning carpets, plus saved me money by recommending OxyClean instead of an...

    I need a Leather cleaner !

My buddy's friend just bought a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS with leather seats. He's planning on having me spend a weekend doing the spring detail once the weather warms up. All of the other cars I take care of have cloth or vinyl seats so I have no experience cleaning leather nor do I have a dedicated...

New year, new pads! But which?

With spring on the horizon here in the frozen tundra of eastern Ontario, Canada I'm starting to prepare my shopping list. I own two each of LC's 5.5" CCS orange, white and black. It seems however that the popular opinion is to use Flat pads with the PC7424XP, so I'm going to try those out. For...

    Dumb mistake and caused scratches

Hey all, I was brushing snow and scraping ice off my car ('02 Hyundai Accent) and caused some rather noticeable scratches on the trunklid and roof. Before winter I threw on two coats of Collinite 845 to protect the finish during the winter months. There's still at least 4-6 weeks left of winter...

    Unheated Garage

My garage is full of all sorts of stuff after my basement was flooded and I couldn't get to my polishes/waxes to bring them in. Products that I have out there that I actually care about are Optimum Polish Liquid, Optimum PoliSeal, Optimum OptiBond, DG Aquawax, Meg's Ultimate Compound, Optimum...

Waxes that can be applied in winter?

Collinite 845. Stuff is darn near indestructible. I threw two coats on my '02 Hyundai Accent in November in temps of roughly 10'C. In January we had a thaw with temps hitting 5'C and it rained. The 845 beaded water like it was put on the day before.

    3 vehicles you hate detailing

I'm surprised you wrote this. You used to work at Meguiars and they recently introduced their Ultimate Protectant which I find is the go-to product for pebble textured plastic trim. What's your take?

    Plastic headlight cleaning

I used the Meg's Headlight Restoration Kit and then protect them with Optimum Poli-Seal.

    3 vehicles you hate detailing

Any car that I need a ladder or stepstool to reach the roof. Since I'm only 5'5", that's about 99% of the cars on the market.

What's your favorite no rinse wash?

As far as I know there's only two no-rinse washes on the market - Detailer's Pride Rinseless Wash & Gloss and Optimum No Rinse. While there are a lot of debates about products, ONR seems to be the universal 'must have' product in everyone's toolbox. After trying it out I completely agree with...

    Cold weather wax and/or sealer?

Collinite 845 is known for being the go-to winter wax for cold weather climates. It'll last 3-4 months even with all of the sand and salt that's on the roads up here. It's easy to apply, a little goes a long way and it's dirt cheap. AG link here - Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax #845, liquid...

    ONR- Ice sold to eskimos....

More benefits of ONR: - In some locales water is on a water meter, so the less water you use the lower your bill is. Using ONR compared to a normal wash saves money this way. - In the summer during a drought the local government may put a restriction on the amount of water each person is...

The difference between a Normal Car Wash, a Waterless Car Wash, a Rinseless Car Wash and a Spray Detailer

Mr. Phillips, I've been looking for way to measure out a bucket and saw that you said to put a mark at 6" in a 5 gallon bucket for two gallons. If 6" = 2 gallons, would it be safe to assume that: 3" = 1 gallon 9" = 3 gallons 12" = 4 gallons 15" = 5 gallons or is it a little more complicated...

    Amazing Roll Off

Is ARO only for wheels and tires or is it a general purpose APC like Meg's APC+, Optimum Power Clean and Simple Green? If it is an APC, how does it compare to the three I just mentioned?
