3-Categories: Waxes, Paint Sealants and Coatings

I need a product recommendation - I'm looking at applying one of these coatings to a couple of DDs owned by family members. The issue is the price of CQuartz vs. Opti-Coat 2.0. I live in Canada so shipping costs from AutoGeek are a little pricey. It would cost $22.50 in shipping on top of the...

    New Car Wax?

Eventhough the car's new, there's probably some marring on the finish from dust particles settling on the car during transportation. A light polish could be useful. Post up some pictures if you can.

Ready to buy...tooo many choices! help!

FYI, you can get stuff that's as good or better than OTC for roughly the same price. Optimum makes a fantastic line of products that are cost-friendly, high quality and the customer service is excellent. Some products I can personally recommend: - Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel - Nice satin...

3-Categories: Waxes, Paint Sealants and Coatings

I like the potential of these coatings in areas that aren't clearcoated or are difficult to wax, like exterior plastic trim, hubcaps, undercarriages and rocker panels. What about Opti-Coat or CQuartz on painted pickup truck beds as a substitute for plastic or spray-on bedliners, or even...

Collinite 845 as a wheel wax?

Thanks for all of the input. I recently picked up some BFWD that I'm going to use on the paint of mine and some friends and family members' cars, but I still have some 845 kicking around that I wanted to find a use for. Guess I've found one. :D Next question - how do you apply it to get thin...

Similar tire dressing to 303 Protectant but CHEAPER?

I've never used 303, but the OP was asking for a low gloss, satin look to tires. In my experience I've achieved that with diluted Opti-Bond. There wasn't a fake sheen; instead I found that my tires looked black and like new. Having purchased eight new tires (4 all-seasons, 4 winters) in 2010, I...

Collinite 845 as a wheel wax?

According to the bottle of Collinite 845, it says it is for "automotive, marine, RV, aeronautical and industrial use" along with its use on power lines to prevent "flashovers" which can prevent fires, outages and explosions. It's obvious that 845 is tough stuff, but I'm wondering - has anybody...

Similar tire dressing to 303 Protectant but CHEAPER?

Opti-Bond is awesome stuff. Dilute it 1:1 in a regular 32 oz spray bottle, spray on the tires and spread with a foam tire dressing applicator. It gives a black, satin, "like new" look. You can also use it straight from the bottle but I find it to be too thick and tough to apply. Check out CEE...

Can this be used on exterior plastic, like windshield cowlings, rocker panels, side mirrors and hubcaps?

    Anyone use aquapel?

Check NAPA. It might have the NAPA logo on the label, but as long as it says Aquapel you're good to go. AutoGeek also has them - Aquapel Glass Care, Rain repellent, aqua-pel, glass sealer, windshield repellent I've never seen the Trico View packaging and I don't know if it and Aquapel are the...

3hrs to do 2 cars? Um, yeah I can do that. (uh oh)

Did you have time to tape off around the windows, plastic trim and headlights considering your short time frame?

    Anyone use aquapel?

Stuff's expensive at $7.99 each OTC at NAPA in Canada but its ease of use and longevity compared to RainX is worth it. I use one application on the windshield, another on the four side windows and two side mirrors and a third on the rear glass.

"Eureka Moments" in Your Detailing Learning Curve

After spending 6 hours washing and waxing I was heartbroken to see the car covered in swirls. I bought a PC7424XP shortly after.

Do you cringe when you see someone wearing watches and rings while detailing a car?

I take my watch off for the same reason others have mentioned - I don't want soapy water getting on it or between it and my wrist. My bad habit is working on a car with a jacket on without an apron. Sometimes the zipper will hit the paint. I haven't noticed any damage being caused by it but...

Whats better than a 2011 ZR1? How about 5 of them! (many pics)

I have a bottle of BFWD that's begging to be thrown on my family's fleet of cars. My '02 Accent has light silver metallic paint like on #2 while my Dad's '03 Malibu has that medium grey metallic like on #1 and #4. Based on the results you got, I can't wait to see what my cars will look like with...

Opinions on using APC to clean leather??

What started out as a simple search asking if OPC was OK to clean leather (it is based on Dr. G's and Chris@Optimum's responses) turned into a huge discussion featuring some of the greatest minds in the industry. With all of the information contained in this thread, I believe it should be...

what's everyone doing for exercise these days?

    - Purposely parking towards the back of the parking lot. It keeps my car away from shopping carts and it adds an extra few steps on the way into work. - Quick detailing for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week. - Playing with my nieces, aged 7 and 3 months. :D
