Take a look at GTechniq T1 or 303 Tire Balm. Both are less viscous than Opti. I really like the satin sheen from the 303 and it's on sale right now on AG for ½ price. Definitely recommended at the price.
You don’t need to melt it, just warm it up a bit. it's like butter, crumbly when cold but spreads when warmed up. I just use a plastic thin scraper to reach the sides of the tin or as the other gentleman said, a butter knife.
Consider just pouring it off into 3-4 quart containers so you don’t expose it to air (much).
yes, the pricing difference @ the gallon level is very hard to pass up.
This should probably go in the 'samples' thread but the offer stands to most any Boston MetroWest AG freaks. Including samples of a wide range of product that I will never really use.
I have both. Optimum PowerClean without a doubt. Vastly better. If you are in the Boston area, I'll give you ½gl of the Megs if you want. I won't be using it much. As a matter of fact, I just cleaned a wooden railing (after 20y of crud), OPC 1:3 took it all right off. the Megs didn't touch it.
Thanks. Thanks to AG, I have both, the Makita and the GG6. I've tried the GG w/ rayon pads and Ceriglass w/o much success after a good amount of time and passes.
I think it's time to step up plus it seems like a good use of the new toy, er, Makita ;)
solid choices. I ended up w/ a gallon of Opti Spray Wax too. Gallons are so much cheaper in the final calculations but only if you're going to use them.
Like gallon of Power Clean, Tuf-Shine tire cleaner, Opti Car Wash, UWWW, salt remover

Here is what I do. When I read about something great that I don't have, I add it to my buy list. When I run out of the product I am using I order the new one. If it's something entirelly new that I do not have an equivalent for, and I think it would be useful, I add it to the next order I...
What is the 'value proposition' for using something like Optics's Glass Coating (or equiv) vs. hitting the windshield every month w/ Opti-Seal (basic sealant)?
Are the glass coatings really worth the $$$ vs. alternatives? I just have a hard time justifying the $70+ for a special coating for...
Too much water or too fast and you basically end up w/ a liquid 'wavefront' at the leading edge of the sponge. That just pushes dirt around the surface.
Thread from a long time ago but I will tell you that when I had a black car (a Mitsu. from the 90's), my sea sponge scratched the CR*P out of it (now that I know).
DO NOT USE ONE.
