Have any advice on polishing chrome?

It won't remove any of the scratches/swirls. The chrome is a very hard material to begin with, and once you induce swirls the best way is usually to have it re-chromed.

Have any advice on polishing chrome?

Once it is scratched you need to rechrome. You need to be very careful with chrome during the washing and drying stages. Maybe if you took the chrome parts off and took it to a buffer wheel with various stages of compounding and rouge you may have a chance but the layer is very thin to being...

How to rid my glass of phantoms!

Just get a terry cloth towel that has a decent nap on it and get a heavy compound (Meguiars Heavy Cut Cleaner M04 you should be able to pick up at the local parts store), and then get to work (be prepared to work up a sweat). Mike Phillips suggested that a long time ago and it works well by hand.

How to polish Jeep soft top windows

Mike do you happen to have the link of that detail you used PlastX on? What speed did you run the PC at and how much pressure (I know it is hard with the top installed. Also, did you check the window at various angles of light-ie sun or flashlight? Maybe it is the clear vinyl plastic on my...

How do you handle people who like to be sticklers but are also customers?

People don't understand the time and effort it takes to do the job. They are not only paying you for your time but your expertise as well as your products. What do they make per hour at their job? I think you need to speak with them and understand what they want completed. If your price...

How to polish Jeep soft top windows

I have yet to find a good polish for plastic windows/side curatins/boat windows. Plastix was no good and I have always liked Meguiars #10 and #11, but they are more of a chemical cleaner and protectant. I have not found anything good for using the DA-I used Poliseal in the past for a plastic...

1962 Volkswagen - HOK PEARL Paint - Training Car for the September Competition Ready Detailing Class

Nice to see an aircooled VW in the shop. It will be interesting to see what you use for correction. All the curves and the tight spots between the fenders and the body make it a challenge even though it is a small car. Small pads are your friend. PS-that is not a Porsche engine. It is just...

Scuff & Buff - Wet Sanding Single Stage Metallic Paint - 1948 Willys Jeepster

Mike, quick question... With the 3M Trizact sanding discs did you use an interface pad and what speed did you run the Griots machine at? I assume the next steps were the Flex rotary with a wool pad then the Flex DA with the orange foam pad. It turned out fantastic!

Who likes a waffle weave drying towel over an ultra plush drying towel? Me! Drying towel review.

The PFM towel is unreal. I used one 16x16 yesterday for the first time and it dried the whole car. I will be buying more!

What lighting source do you use for white and sliver colored vehicles?

Thanks for the info Zach. I have found that turning off the lights and just using your inspection light works the best for me so far on white and silver (especially when they are not hammered). The brightness of the sun reflection does not help due to the intensity/gloss coming off the surface...

What lighting source do you use for white and sliver colored vehicles?

What lighting source do you use for white and sliver colored vehicles? I have a hard time picking up the defects with these colors under normal lighting conditions or using a led, xenon, or halogen portable light or flashlight. The best I can do is turn off all the lights and use an old clip on...

Anyone use Carpro Hydro after a final polish with Essence?

Corey from Carpro was nice enough to get back to me and this is the info he provided so I thought I would pass it along (and thanks for the responses above)... you can use Essence and then coat with Hydro2 but I would wait as long as possible between the two. Protection will last 18 months or...

Anyone use Carpro Hydro after a final polish with Essence?

Anyone use Carpro Hydro after a final polish with Essence? I am nearly out of any coating product and thought it may be better to stay within the product line instead of putting a sealant on top of it. If you have used this 1/2 what was the outcome on length of time for protection. This car...

Help!! Need a good wax/coating for tree sap, bird bombs, pollen and dust!

Black car = dirty as soon as you finished washing. Don't park under trees and whatever you do, do not park next to sprinklers. That being said Isopropyl alcohol is great for removing sap and for stubborn ones a clear hand gel sanatizer works great since it is mostly alcohol as well and will...
