    My first clearcoat burn

Yeah, I've seen them sold on other detailing sites but they're well into the 4-digit price range. I have a decent job with nice pay, but not that nice to where I can spend the money on one of those.

    My first clearcoat burn

I took the car over to a body man and he said that my assessment was correct. He opened the door and said he saw overspray in my door jamb which I never noticed so apparently some shoddy body work as done on that panel. He said it'll cost about $300-$400 to fix it so it's not that bad. I do feel...

    My first clearcoat burn

Another reason I think my car had some body work done on it in the past is because on the driver-side fender there's an area who's paint is significantly thinner than the rest of the car. This area also has a good bit of orange peel too. I'd say my car's paint thickness averages in the mid...

    My first clearcoat burn

I don't have a camera so no pictures yet, but I'll get some and post them later. My passenger-side rear fender had a RID that I was wanted to make less noticeable so I grabbed my Griot's 3", a 4" Surbuf, and some Meg's UC to do a spot buff. I used my Defelsko to measure the area prior to buffing...

    So angry!

I was just at the grocery store and I saw a nice Synergy Green 2011 Camaro parked away from everyone else. Next thing I know someone in a trashy old beater parks right next to it. Of all the places to park they choose that spot. They didn't do anything, but for some reason when you park a nice...

    Streamlining the "Full Interior Detail"

But what does the attachment attach to? I wonder if I could safely use my metro master blaster in this fashion?

Air gun? What are you using?

How long for a full interior detail?

Yeah, I think I'm going to use your approach for future jobs. I don't know that I'll ever be good enough to get it down to less than 4 hours, but I guess it's quite clear that I could change some things about my approach.

How long for a full interior detail?

I pretty much do cover the entire vehicle with it, but I only do multiple passes on the seats and carpet. I think I know what's slowing me down. I like to get into all the little cracks and crevices and get them as perfect as I can. I get in there with the cotton detailing sticks sold here and...

How long for a full interior detail?

Glad to hear that my times may not be so bad. I realize that some things can be scaled back, perhaps I don't need to steam cleam with at least 2 passes and then follow up with the hot water extractor. But, I like to know I'm turning the car back over to the owner cleaner than if another detailer...

How long for a full interior detail?

The last two cars I've done interior details on have taken me between 7-8 hours. How much time do you spend on messy cars in which the owner wants a full detail? Here's what I'm doing: * Full vacuum from top to bottom (including underneath the seats and other tight areas) * Wipedown door...

    Interior Cleaning under the seats??

I'm not very mechanically inclined so I'm going to avoid getting into pulling out seats. Like I said I'm sure it's not hard and since I've never done that before I don't want to get myself into a mess that I can't get myself out of. Especially on other people's cars.

    Interior Cleaning under the seats??

I would rate these ones as super funky. I'm sure it's not hard to remove seats, but I really don't know how to do that. I wish I would have thought of my lug nut brush, I'll certainly keep that in mind for the next time.

    Interior Cleaning under the seats??

When you guys do an interior how do you clean the rails which the front seats ride on? Do you actually remove the seats? Do you get that area perfectly clean? Or do you just do the best you can? I did someone's interior yesterday and I did the best I can on the seat rails and the area around...

    Try 'em, they're great!

    The "New" Griots 3" Polisher

I used this device with a 4" Surbuf and Meg's UC to remove some deep RIDS and it worked great.

Poorboy's DMT's for my Camaro..........Cobra's for my daily driver.

What's too aggressive for plastic panels?

I just used my PC, a white LC pad, and some Meg's UC. Lot of little defects still there, but it looks better so I'll probably just leave it at that.

What's too aggressive for plastic panels?

Yeah, that's why I'm concerned about being too aggressive. I'm new to Surbuf pads but they seem to work great. Do they generate more or less heat that foam pads?
