Actually I worked at Mercedes Benz of palm beach Fl. for years and this gentleman is a regular. Most of the internals are an old deisel Mercedes. As well as some of the panels and front clip....regardless a true masterpiece of creativity and a head turner to be sure!!

Garry, Ive owned the g110v2 for a while now and ive had only one issue with the machine... and thats the stock backing plate does not hold pads well. I put a Lake Country backing plate on it and havent had any issues since. Ive even polished a boat with it. Plenty of power. Pad never stops...

Be careful! many of todays manufacturers (mercedes for example) Require radio codes to get the radio to come back on after disconnection. This could be an issue if you dont have access to the code or the parts/service department at the local dealer is closed. just FYI

Did you use 5.5inch hydrotech pads with the standard 6inch backing plate on the Griots polisher? Maybe you were grinding the backing plate into the paint? You shouldnt use smaller pads than your backing plate.

Ive used many tools with batteries and they all go dead very quickly when put to any kind of serious work. The only value i see here is like Mike said...spot or headlight polishing. Certainly not for a large job.Not even 18v????
