Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

Unfortunately, were not talking about an aftermarket tune. I would be more accepting in that instance. I've seen those octane specific ones on the aftermarket for VW and BMWs for a while. What I've never seen before is a stock ECU on stock programming need to do anything special. E85 is a...

Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

Ughhh..And that... Every other automaker on the planet has figured out how to design the software and sensors to dynamically adjust to fuel octane levels. You'd think a global company the size of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis could figure it out too.

My BRZ meets the ADS Quartz Coating

I'm glad it isn't just me. Sometimes when I encounter issues or things don't quite go as the manufacturer says, I wonder if I did something wrong.

Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

Hyundai dropped the ball by never giving us the i30 N too. By all accounts is a true GTI fighter, and might even beat it. I've never understood why Hyundai of all people didn't simply bring the good stuff the sell the rest of the world rather than dumbing down their vehicle line for the US market.

Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

Spotted my first Ioniq 5 N at an event I drove in a couple weeks ago. Cool to see one actually being driven in anger. I'm still amazed at how big these things are in real life versus how they look in pictures. Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

My BRZ meets the ADS Quartz Coating

Despite only applying Gyeon Pure EVO to my car last year I found myself having to coat the car again. Last fall I was re-ended and a significant number of parts to the back half of the car were replaced and/or repainted. Since the car is so small, I decided to just go ahead redo the entire...

    Wheel Cleaning Help

Are those spots on the surface or are they etched into the wheel? From the picture it looks like something ate into the finish.

    Teach me: Primer Polishes

How did you find the cut of Essence? Is there a cure time like there is with the Gyeon product?

    Teach me: Primer Polishes

This is helpful and throws up to flags for me. First, if I still have to use a panel wipe, I see it as being less valuable to me, even though a panel wipe is a fast and easy step. Second, and the biggest one, would be compatibility issues. I'm really not a "system" guy and like to mix and...

    Teach me: Primer Polishes

Thanks everyone! The more I read into them and thought about your comments/experiences it becomes pretty clear they aren't for me. I already have a process and some products that provide good results and in a time frame I like. I'll likely tweak them a bit but won't bother with primers.

    Teach me: Primer Polishes

I just recently finished polishing out and re-coating my BRZ (another thread coming) and noticed I'm now really low on finishing polish. I've been very pleased with Griots BOSS Perfecting Cream and wouldn't hesitate to buy another bottle, but before replenishing my stock I remembered the primer...

    TWHS flex wax discontinued.

I've always wondered how much detailing product an auto parts store moves. Whenever I go into my local parts stores, the selection is pretty grim; just a few Griots, some Mothers, a few consumer Meguiars, a couple Turtle Wax items, and then the stuff like Blue Coral. Most of the bottles are...

Does a coating's slickness affect how clean it stays?

From my experience, no. The water behavior of a coating seems to be more related to the chemistry of the coating and how well it beads/sheets water than the feel of the surface. Some of the slickest LSP's I've used were actually sealants, but they weren't in the same league as a coating when...

Liquid vs Spray Sealers and Waxes

My experience with spray sealants is they don't last as long as a liquid wax. I've used a few spray waxes and they will hang around for anywhere from a few weeks to 2~3 months at the longest. Liquid sealants have lasted much longer for me. Collinite 845 would last around 5~6 months, Klasse SG...

Brand New Ford Headlamp Assemblies - to coat or not to coat

This would be my vote if you want the max level of protection, though I would not recommend one with a tint. Hitting the lenses with a coating won't hurt, but I too doubt it will keep them from yellowing or hazing after a decade or two. I will typically coat my headlights and taillights with...

Blackfire coatings vs. Gyeon, Carpro, etc.

That's the stuff. If memory serves they had two versions. I never used the first version, but the second one wasn't too bad if you used it pretty quickly after buying it.

Blackfire coatings vs. Gyeon, Carpro, etc.

I used the first generation of the Blackfire coating weeks after it hit the market...long before the re-branding. It too came in a plastic bottle and I have a feeling it didn't seal properly. That coating would flash instantly while you were spreading it which made it insanely hard to apply...

Whats the go-to wash mitt now days?

I used the "noodle" chenille mits for a long time and never had any paint issues. I have noticed The Rag Company mitts I use now do seem to slide more easily across the surface, but neither seem to have any negative impacts on the paint. Of the years of using the noodle mits, I bought them...

    Microfiber and ceramics

I do add Griots Microfiber and Pad cleaner to the laundry when I wash my towels regardless of what I've used them for, and it does seem to help quite a bit with keeping things absorbent. Might try the P&S when the bottle runs out.

    Microfiber and ceramics

When dealing with ceramic infused sealants, but spray and more traditional liquid, I've never treated my towels any different and never seen difference afterwards. I don't think the levels of ceramics in those products are high enough to affect anything. The only time I do anything different...
