    Steamer, blowing water?

It is blowing water because the unit isn't hot enough to blow steam. Either wait longer before using or perhaps only use it a certain amount while you have steam until you blow water and then wait for it to heat up more. Either the unit can't heat up enough at all because it is defective, or it...

Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

If you don't feel comfortable with wet sanding, that is fine. I suggest polishing enough to get all of the other paint color out of the scratches, and then clean with mineral spirits before you apply touch up. Once the other color is out of the scratches it will look much better. If there are...

Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

I was only talking about wetsanding the new touch up paint to make it flush. I was not talking about wet sanding to remove the scratches caused by the other car.. If he was to try to wetsand the scratches out, THAT would be a problem, since it is likely he will go through the clear in the...

Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

The spray type touch up will be dry to the touch in a few hours. It just will take a few days for all of the solvents to out-gas so that it finishes sinking in. The paint will sink a lot after a few hours, too, but will continue to sink significantly for a few days. Curing is the paint settling...

Side panel scratched in the parking lot...what should I do?

I have found that using a cleaner wax by hand along the scratches takes off paint transfer rather well. After you get the paint transfer off, it will look much better and you will see what needs to be polished out. After the paint transfer is removed, it might not be noticeable from 10 feet...

    Tornado foam canon

The Tornador definitely produces a much drier foam which has a higher soap content than a foam gun does. There is therefore much longer dwell time. It also is great for interior shampooing, which is not something you would use a foam gun for. It works also for wheel cleaning chemicals.

How do some of the current sealants compare?

Griot's Garage Paint Sealant is supposed to last up to a year. I seem to get about 8 months out of it.

An air compressor is a very useful tool. Apart from inflating tires, you can run die grinders, da buffers, impact wrenches, and so on. An air compressor is worth having. Of course if you get one it needs to be powerful enough to run all the tools you want to use.

    IPA wipedown necessary?

IPA wasn't designed to clean paint, so it has no lubricants in it. I don't understand why anyone would use it when they could use Optimum Power Clean or another dedicated product.

    Paint Hardness General Question

A touchless car cover is basically a tent for your car. It is indoor only right now. I understand they are developing an outdoor version. Here is a video : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzQC3tNubz8]Touchless Car Cover - YouTube[/video]

How to clean wheels after I cleaned tires!!

Always clean the wheels first and use the excess wheel cleaner to clean the tire with a scrub brush. That way, you save on materials. After you clean the wheel, spread the cleaner to the tire with a soft brush. Then use scrub brush to clean. Then rinse the whole thing after cleaning tire.

got a customer that im unsure about.

Funny how he wants a big discount from you but won't offer you the same. Whatever your regular price is, if he waives the $100 fee, which costs him nothing, you could consider giving him a discount up to $100 total. If it were me, though, I would only be inclined to offer a $25 discount after he...

    Paint Hardness General Question

Softer paint is easier to correct, provided that it isn't a self healing paint that is gummy. Proper wash techniques and maintaining 2 or 3 coats of lsp as a sacrificial barrier is the best way to protect paint, in conjunction with being garaged. If no garage, then I like a car cover. There is...

Extra Clearcoat. Would You Buy It As A Factory Applied Option?

That sounds like another gallon of paint. ( A lot of paint is lost in the air when spraying) A gallon of paint is a lot more than $20. It's more like $80. Then there is the cost of application. Could be a $500-$700 option. Be that as it may, of course I would pay it.

wet sand single stage paint (orange peel)

I have always wet sanded. Depending upon severity of the orange peel, 1500, then 2000, 2500 and 3000. Don't go flat with the 1500. Just use it to get most of it out. Flatten with 2000, then remove the scratches with 2500 and 3000, then compound by machine, for the most uniform results. Then use...

Look What I Saw A New Winged Daytona

Well, the body kit was made for people who love the look of the Superbird, so the wing is as essential as the nose. There are also hood and fender pieces. I think the fender pieces clutter it up. Not everyone loves the Superbird. Some people do. I do. The Superbird is the epitome of the...
