    Brand new to detailing

I agree with ryan, start with smaller quantities of product as you're testing new waters. If a product doesnt work out.. even after adjusting your technique then its no big deal. Find products you like and use them often :) and thank you Mike for posting up the pictures. :) James

Iron X should everyone do it?

I agree with Chet. If the paint is in need of claying you can be sure that it'll probably need iron x, well, according to my local conditions anyhow. I live close to the city so the iron is pretty thick here. James

Brand New car, to use sealant or not sealant

There may be a few minor swirls in the paint. The dealership may have applied a glaze to hide them and may not appear until the next couple of washes (especially if the paint wasnt layered with a wax or sealant). James

    Polish not behaveing

Hmm sounds like sticky paint, that is, paint that absorbs the polishing oils faster than you can effectively use the polish. As for a solution, I have none to draw from personal experience, however from what Ive read some people opt for polishes with more oils so that enough still remain on the...

Brand New car, to use sealant or not sealant

Try collinite 476 for durability through winter. Ive read that it holds up really well throughout the season. I use it here in Australia through the summer and I can easily get 3-4 months out of it in the blistering heat we get. James

Need help understanding on how waxes, coatings etc protect paint

Yes, waxes coatings and sealants definitely prolong the life of the paint because they are destroyed by the elements rather than the paint, this is why they have to be reapplied. They take the bullet for the paint which in turn leads to no or very low damage to the paint. James

Need help understanding on how waxes, coatings etc protect paint

I dont think waxes or sealants actually protect from UV, or if they do it would be very minimal. They are a sacrificial barrier that protects the clear coat which is the layer of paint that contains UV stabilisers to protect the colour coat. Waxes and sealants protect the UV protection if that...

    Most "bulletproof" product(s) and method(s)

Id recommend Finish Kare 1000P hi temp paste wax. It's cheap, very durable and gives the paint a glassy look. I've used it for about 3 years now on my mothers daily driver, comes out looking fantastic and lasts about 6 months. James

    Mothers pure polish

Hey guys, My dad purchased step 1,2 and 3 of the mothers ultimate wax system since it was on sale at our local auto parts store. I understand that step 2 ( micro polishing glaze) is a non abrasive filler. Anyway, my dad wants me to use the products on his car, how aggressive is pure polish? Is...

    Review: Chemical Guys Blacklight Glaze

Agreed. That's with most product lines in general. I think all manufacturers have decent products and others that can be considered below average, just the way it is. James

Anybody know how to remove stain which is created by clay

Never clay without a lubricant. That will just result in excessive marring to the paint surface. Use a lubricant like meguiars quik detailer.. its never let me down. You can probably remove it with a light polish, a picture of it will be helpful. :) James
