Newbie - Few questions about pads and products

    1. I use a yellow LC cutting pad with ultimate compound as it is most effective on my finish. 2. I would not mix waxing or finishing pads with products designed to cut paint. Use specific pads for specific products. E.g have a few pads for UC and a few pads for a finishing polish like ultimate...

    Clay bar

I have read that the OTC clay bars are on the milder side, I use clay magic fine grade and I can confirm that it pulls contaminants quicker that the meguiars otc clay. James

    Poorboy's World EX-P Sealant.

Its a very good product. I used it back in summer here is Australia on my black car thats a daily driver. I got about 2 months durability. It was a hot summer, days would get up to 112F consistently.. In my books that's good durability especially on black paint that can heat up to over two times...

    845 left over residue

Hmmm I have this problem with collinites other waxes, but never with 845. 476 and 915 will leave oily swirls on my black paint if I let it dry for too long. I got around this by applying thin coats and buffing off the product as soon as it shows signs of hazing. Usually after 10 seconds or so...

Need help with possible powder coating overspray

If you use clay maybe go for a more aggressive clay? Like a clay magic medium grade clay bar. It'll rip out the bonded contaminants much more easily. The meguiars clay bar is a fine grade clay bar and probably wont do much. After you clay go over the paintwork with some finishing polish to...

    Meguiars ultimate compound leaves swirls/marring

Ive used UC by hand before and have had this problem. Just follow up with meguiars polishing compound or ultimate polish. If you can afford to spend the money grab a random orbital polisher. Ive never looked back and your arms will thank you. :)

    Carnauba sweating

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has found a way to resolve carnauba sweating? It happens when you freshly wax your car with some carnauba waxes (in my case supernatural wax, had the problem with swissvax too) and expose the paint to high temperatures such as a hot summers day. What...

    Work Truck Fleet- Sealant questions

You could try finish kare 1000P. Very good durability and gives a great gloss to the paint. :) I like SirTanon's idea about incentives for drivers to keep the trucks maintained.

Does layering a sealant under a wax really improve the looks?

Hey mate, I cant speak for all product combinations but Ive used poorboys exp sealant under nattys paste wax and I did notice a difference. After I let exp cure for 24hrs it had a very glassy/glossy look to it. I went ahead and applied nattys white over the top and it definitely improved the...

    Soft black paint....

Do what 2black said. Boy and I thought my Mitsubishi black paint was bad :(. Hand polishing with a finishing compound/polish should be gentle enough.

    New Car 1st Detail

That three step process is good. Maybe add a polishing step too to remove any light swirls (if you can see any). Itd be a good idea to check for any marring after the clay step, polish will remove this. I recommend meguiars m205 :dblthumb2:

    Polished vehicle not noticed!

YES!! Absolutely the norm! People only seem to notice if the paint was restored from a shocking condition. I only get compliments from guys that know what to look out for. The best is when I take my car to the dealership for its periodic check up and try to explain to them that my vehicle has...

    polisher causing swirls help

To get dust off I usually just let my MF towel glide over the finish by holding it by two corners on the same side and letting it go over the paint with no pressure. I would not recommend rubbing the dust as it may be the cause of your scratches. I get some dusting with meguiars UC occasionally...
