Needing to get a larger shop?

How long did it take for you to get backed up with customers? I definitely agree with the seasonal concerns. I would go from being booked 2 weeks out to looking for customers, you just never know. So while it could seem like your business grew exponentially in just the short 4 months, I'm...

    Microfiber selection

So according to the microfiber chart on auto geeks store, there is only one towel for compound removal. I seriously doubt this is true, but when it comes to removing something like fg400 on black paint, what type of towel is recommended? It seems like all the towels say "perfect for detailing...

    Steamer extractor?

I had purchased a Daimer steamer that was similar to the INOX, was less than impressed at its extractor capabilities. It may have been the attachment or something though, but basically the steam comes through the holes in the attachment, so I was getting just lines where I was trying to...

    Working at a dealership

I run a shop and we have a dealership account. I guess they got sick of managing and handling it themselves. I admit it's a hard pill to swallow when trying to do what you know is right vs time constraint. The good news is that the polishing process is really the only place where it becomes...

    windshield fog

This is only a problem though with one of the families cars. I've had cars do this as well on me in the past. They have 2 newer cars and then an old g6 and only the g6 windshield is giving them the problems. There other cars don't fog up, just the g6.

    windshield fog

But this is on the exterior. You run the wipers and it clears right up, but after a few seconds it fogs back up and have to run the wipers again.

    windshield fog

So what is it that causes the windshield to fog up in the morning and continue to fog up after using the wipers. Is it just a layer of gunk that needs to be cleaned off, are the wipers bad, glass need polished?

    Questions for you business owners...

ShaunD, we had just a handshake agreement. We were both getting into un chartered territory for the both of us. He landed a dealership account and I was ready to make the step from doing this as a hobby, to doing it for a living. We both agreed to revisit it after 6 months and now it's been a...

    Questions for you business owners...

That makes perfect sense. Thank you so much. I made an agreement with a guy to give him a percentage of my revenue in order to work out of a bay and do a dealership that he had landed as an account. An account only able to be done because I was on board. I've hired and fired guys over the...

    Questions for you business owners...

Sounds like you don't need to know anything about detailing to make that arrangement. I mean fir the actual brick and mortar business owners out there, are there any that aren't actually involved in the detailing?

    Questions for you business owners...

I'm curious, for all of you out there that actually own detailing businesses, are you actively involved working and operating, or do you just employ people to handle all the actual detailing duties. I understand that if you have a couple shops that you cant be working all of them, maybe working...
