Montana Boars Hair trashed my finish!!

I hear what you're saying, but I still use the 2 bucket method with my boars hair as well. How does it increase your chance for marring? The dirt/contaminants do not embed into the boars hair fiber, but rather get swept away with the wash fluid as well as into your rinse bucket. IME I would...

Doing a first time detail on a new Ford Flex...

I would absolutely recommend claying any new vehicle. You would be surprised the amount of junk that can get trapped on a new paint finish. Claying is pretty newby friendly IMO -just keep it well lubricated, and let the clay do the work for you. Knead the clay regularly to expose...

Montana Boars Hair trashed my finish!!

Just a random question for the people who have said they'd never use a brush. Why? Is there some sort of detailer phobia against using a brush that I'm not aware of? And I'm not talking about some Pep Boy's $4.99 special wash brush. I'm specifically talking the boar's hair brush AG carries.

    Grit Guard Universal Pad Washer

For initial pad cleaning, foam pads you should be fine, but wool is another story due to the amount of loose fibers that come out initially. In this case I would recommend washing the wool by hand first, then in the GG as needed when they become caked with product.

Montana Boars Hair trashed my finish!!

Sorry to hear about your experience. I've never had an issue with my boars hair brush, and mine is going on 2 years. I don't use anything else.

    chemical guys

I dunno, maybe I'm just too picky, but I haven't really liked most of the Chemical Guys products I've tried... Citrus W&G -Its alright, but I much prefer OPT wash. Its definitely some strong stuff. Black Forever Trim/Tire shine -the look is nice, but doesn't last at all. So many other better...

Please help me pick a buffer kit. Pics attached.

205 to a wax will be fine -the glaze will give you a more wet look and jewel the paint a little better, but its not necessary step. 205 finishes down very well. Also, if you're using a sealant, be careful if you apply a glaze -some glazes cause bonding issues when used in conjunction with...

    BEST spray bottle ever!

Got mine from HD as well. Use them for pre-treating carpets, Meg's Wheel Brightener, & APC. Very nice bottles with a durable sprayer.

    bottles

I hear you about not wanting to tote around the whole bottle! I don't know exactly which store carries the bottles you're looking for, as I've always ordered them through US Plastics online. If you decide to buy online I'd give them a shot. I only carry 4 & 8 oz bottles, as I'll never need...

Spring is just around the corner (pollen)

The pollen is really bad in my area this year -I left my windows/sunroof cracked at work today, and now my interior matches the paint lol...pollen truly is an exercise in futility.

Best way to use a hot water extractor

I use all Prochem products with my Durrmaid. Pre-treat trouble stains, then use their dry slurry in the extractor tank. Carpets come out awesome! And I agree -you don't want to get the carpet too wet.

    my collection

Personally, I do not mind 476 as an LSP. Sure, its not as deep as Souveran, but not by much. It can also be a little difficult to remove, so do one panel at a time and THIN coats. It's all in prep -no LSP will give you a show-car quality look without proper paint prep.

    my collection

476s is a very durable wax. I use that specifically during winter details, and also when the customer is more concerned about longevity/durability as compared to appearance. Definitely a good start!
