    New BOSS user

Can you post a picture of your pads? I'm guessing she got you the standard Griot's foam pads on not the BOSS ones as they don't have a red BOSS pad....(unless it's the foam back MF pad). You will have better results with the BOSS pads and I'd suggest the GG6 with a 3-4" backing plates, which...

Looks like "fish scales" on my passenger side door, used new Griot's clay towel a couple weeks ago...connection???

^^^This Marring on the high points of the paint from the towel. I've been using the Griot's towels for a while now as well as the original Nanoskin ones. I've found the Nanoskin Glide to be one of the best lubes for them and I never have any marring issues. The same cannot be said for other...

Managing/controlling compound residue when using compressed air

I haven't yet but still plan to make one like I explained in that thread. Right now it's just low on the priority list. :/

    GG Boss Pads Question

Definitely slow down your tool speed for starters...speed 5-6 is too high and will generate too much heat. I've been using the BOSS pads for over 2 years now and have never had a pad fail or even come close to looking like that, and this is after multiple uses.

    Coating Question for Detailers

Technically speaking, yes, you're correct, owners should add it to their policy to ensure coverage. That being said I've not had a single issue (nor have my clients) getting paid by insurance companies for multiple coatings jobs now that had to be redone after a collision. With the coatings...

    Coating Question for Detailers

Seem like the majority of the cars I do lately have the full front wrapped in PPF. $1500 is pretty good, actually on the low end in my area as most are around $1800-2000. IMO the life of the PPF really comes down to care and what elements it's subject too, and a quality film of course. My...

New iBrid owner frustrated....what am I doing wrong?

I've never had product sling in DA mode but it's definitely an issue in rotary mode. Reducing product amount will help as well as spreading it out before turning it on. IMO it's the lack of a variable speed trigger and higher RPM that makes it more prone to sling product. On my Flex PE14 with...

    Coating Question for Detailers

Yes, I'd say that's a very fair price and doubt you'd find it cheaper. I believe most (if not all) installers coat the head/tail light as part of the install, no additional charge.

CarPro EcH2o Concentrated Waterless Wash - WOW! WOW! WOW!

The scent reminds me of a citronella candle. Not overpowering.

    Coating Question for Detailers

That would be $1275 at my shop for the paint and wheels. (I don't currently offer a coating for the glass)

    Reason I won't use a coating again

Have you been able to measure a change in thickness after a coating is applied? I applied a coating to a calibration shim back in the day and it didn't register a difference... There is a primer polish out there that says it can add up to 5-10 microns in thickness, which I need to test one of...

    Reason I won't use a coating again

You wouldn't happen to work in MN would you? Someone in my office complex has a car exactly like yours and it's always super clean and they park in an end spot every day. :)

    Coating Question for Detailers

THIS^^^^ Any of the coatings you listed will work very well. IMO you should focus more on finding a detailer in your area you trust over which coating you go with.

    Japanese detail shops

No luck finding it. I left a lot of the detailing groups so it could have been in one of them. I think it had to do with the contrast of the dark ceiling and the lights being better at showing defects. maybe shoot him a PM though. ;)

    Japanese detail shops

I don't think so. It was a discussion on FB. I'll see if I can find it though. I know all the Rupes correction areas are painted like that and there was a study done on it by a car manufacture.... I believe he said Rolls-Royce but don't quote me on that one.

    Japanese detail shops

Better at showing paint defects from my understanding. I think Jason Rose commented on it a while back. I like having my bright walls and work space though and it's not solely used for paint correction. I can just turn my overhead lights of if I need to do 99-100% correction.

Griots products and boss system, why I'm switching!

:dblthumb2: Nice seeing some other reputable pros giving the BOSS line some love! Just as an FYI, as I don't think many know this, but Jeff Brown and Rod Kraft are not the only long time Meguiar's employees that have left Meguiar's and are now currently working at Griot's. IMO big things are...
