Ceramic coating real life swirl/scratch resistance

You know what, I used to think the exact same thing too until I recently played around with Feynlab Self-Heal Lite. This is a hand applied coating, 1 coat, and if I can take a brass wire brush to it and heal the paint with heat I have to believe "most" of the swirls are in fact in the coating.

Optimum Hyper Polish Spray With Long Throw Polisher?

As with any polish, the carrier oils have the ability to hide things like faint marring. A good panel wipe will remove them but I've found a lot of others not as effective with Hyper Polish. (Eraser, Opti-Prep, IPA) Again, Hyper Polish is one of my most used finishing polishes, just stating...

Optimum Hyper Polish Spray With Long Throw Polisher?

Yeah, it can be too strong for some painted plastic pieces and PPF. It definitely removes more than a lot of the other preps I've tried.

    Yes, I bought a KIA

Jalopnik posted an article last week that some dealers were marking them up, one even went as far to say that Kai was requiring them to mark it up. They tried to add another $5k to the sticker of the one my buddy bought until he said he'd take his business elsewhere.

    Yes, I bought a KIA

Congrats! My buddy just got his last week too! I'll be wrapping it in PPF and coating it in a few weeks. :) Did they try and charge you over MSRP for yours?

Optimum Hyper Polish Spray With Long Throw Polisher?

Works very well and is one of my most used finishing combos, just be sure to do a good wipe down on a test spot with Gtechniq Panel Wipe or similar.

    Questions regarding Mate paint finishes

While there are some dedicated matte clears (premixed) there are also matte paint systems where the same BC/CC is used but a "matting agent" is added to the clear which causes it to diffuse/refract light rather then reflect. OP, while there are now several matte specific coatings available...

Repainted hood quality compared to oem?

3-5 days is about right assuming the parts are at the shop. I had my bumper replaced, painted, and vehicle back the next day, but that was through my old mans shop. 2 months is ridiculous if they have all the parts so I would assume that wasn't an insurance job?

Repainted hood quality compared to oem?

The paint used at the OEM is totally different then what body shops use.

Repainted hood quality compared to oem?

$500 seems a bit low IMO but as long as the painter is properly prepping and sanding out the pits/chips, is using quality paint and materials, AND he know's what he's doing. It should look as good as the OEM paint. Keep in mind it may need some wet sanding for texture match and denibbing of...

Coating on top of coating crazyness

Honestly, I'd pass on the job. Having someone watch you will add a lot of time to the job and they may nit pick and question everything you do. CSL is one of those coatings that easy to apply, but it also requires your full attention!

Coating on top of coating crazyness

I personally wouldn't apply Gloss-Coat before CSL and I would let him know you're not responsible for any incompatibilities. I can't say I've heard of anyone doing this combo before so it's hard to say what the outcome would be. I'm guessing you'll be fine but IMO the owner should be using EXO...

Can someone please tell me what these are?

I agree on the stone rash or "pitting". Compounds and polishes get down in those tiny pits and they will often turn white or get more noticeable after a day or two. Age of the car? The panels appear to be different colors too...repaint?

Maintaining a coated Hellcat w/ Matte Hood???

NO. They can’t be polished like a normal BC/CC. The way I understand it is the addition of the matting agent to the clear causes light to refract or diffuse vs. reflect. Polishing will smooth out the fine texture in the surface causing a sheen/gloss. Same goes for aggressive rubbing of the...

Maintaining a coated Hellcat w/ Matte Hood???

Understandable. The change is so subtle I doubt he'd even notice. There is definitely a risk when applying them not being able to polish, but as long as you're using a coating that isn't fussy you should be fine. You could use a matte specific coating too but IMO they are nothing more then...

Maintaining a coated Hellcat w/ Matte Hood???

I would just coat the matte hood too. IMO it improves the appearance with a very slight darkening and evens out the look. Coated Matte wrap Coated stock matte hood Coated OEM matte/CF stripes Maintain with a product like Reload.

    Clearcoat Strike Through- Rupes

That is very possible with a DA, especially on an edge like that and on a 13+yr old paint. :(

    Experts in polishing Hellcats...

Their paint (along with some other makes) has what appears to be dieback in the paint. Typically it can be removed/improved with polishing, in some more severe cases I've seen users have to wet sand, though that wasn't on a Hellcat. Here are some documented before after pics I took...

Menzerna or Griot's? Which products should I use?

They each have their pros and cons. I tend to reach for the BOSS creams most but I have both lines on hand.

McKee's 37 Paint Coating Not Resistant to Salt?

I know, not sure what I was thinking when I said 47 months...didn't take my meds that day I guess! LOL
