You know what, I used to think the exact same thing too until I recently played around with Feynlab Self-Heal Lite. This is a hand applied coating, 1 coat, and if I can take a brass wire brush to it and heal the paint with heat I have to believe "most" of the swirls are in fact in the coating.

Yeah, it can be too strong for some painted plastic pieces and PPF. It definitely removes more than a lot of the other preps I've tried.

Jalopnik posted an article last week that some dealers were marking them up, one even went as far to say that Kai was requiring them to mark it up. They tried to add another $5k to the sticker of the one my buddy bought until he said he'd take his business elsewhere.

Works very well and is one of my most used finishing combos, just be sure to do a good wipe down on a test spot with Gtechniq Panel Wipe or similar.

While there are some dedicated matte clears (premixed) there are also matte paint systems where the same BC/CC is used but a "matting agent" is added to the clear which causes it to diffuse/refract light rather then reflect. OP, while there are now several matte specific coatings available...

3-5 days is about right assuming the parts are at the shop. I had my bumper replaced, painted, and vehicle back the next day, but that was through my old mans shop. 2 months is ridiculous if they have all the parts so I would assume that wasn't an insurance job?

The paint used at the OEM is totally different then what body shops use.

Honestly, I'd pass on the job. Having someone watch you will add a lot of time to the job and they may nit pick and question everything you do. CSL is one of those coatings that easy to apply, but it also requires your full attention!

I personally wouldn't apply Gloss-Coat before CSL and I would let him know you're not responsible for any incompatibilities. I can't say I've heard of anyone doing this combo before so it's hard to say what the outcome would be. I'm guessing you'll be fine but IMO the owner should be using EXO...

I agree on the stone rash or "pitting". Compounds and polishes get down in those tiny pits and they will often turn white or get more noticeable after a day or two. Age of the car? The panels appear to be different colors too...repaint?

They each have their pros and cons. I tend to reach for the BOSS creams most but I have both lines on hand.
