Picked up a 3M DA and various hookit discs from 40-3000 Grit at the local body shop supply store. Went with purple for the coarse stuff, gold for medium grits and Trizact for the finer stuff. Ill use the coarse for metal polishing and such.

I think you need a variety of brands to cover everything. Just like tools. I love my shiney snap on wrenches but my Knipex pliers and Wiha drivers are way nicer than anything snappy makes and cheaper too. Menzerna has treated me well. I dont get along well with PG1000 but FG400 is a godsend...

Personal preference I would say. Personally I have FG400, PG1000, SIP1500, PF2500 and SF4000. FG400 fits the bill for a lot of my work which is heavily oxidized single stage paint on heavy equipment. It cuts fast, finishes very well and is great to work with. The PG1000 I never use anymore...

Honestly, as vegas and others can attest, if you are competing with the local truck polishers you wont make much money. I would just do it by the hour if they let you, every truck is different. A lot are painted thick with Imron so break out the FG400 and go to town if its in rough shape...
