    YOUR MOST TRUSTY BRUSHES?

    YOUR MOST TRUSTY BRUSHES?

I think the powder coat on rims is tougher than y’all are making it out to be. Sure, I don’t disagree that you should go with the gentlest product that does the job, but sometimes you just need more fire power. FWIW, I use (and love using) the super-gentle Microfiber Madness Incredibrush, which...

Meguiar’s Citrus Power Cleaner Plus D107 + Tornador?

First off, yes I searched for D107 threads, but they were all quite stale and I didn’t feel like resurrecting any of them to ask this. The label on D107 says it can be used in “air-powered interior cleaning tools,” which I assume to mean the Tornador and its various knock-offs. However, the...

How are spray and rinse sealants like HydrO2 legal?

As a prime example of the bureaucratic stupidity of our functionaries: the government has banned all residential pesticides where I live, but the golf course down the street is allowed to spray as much Mecoprop, Dicamba and 2,4-D as they want.

How are spray and rinse sealants like HydrO2 legal?

You’ll detail a dude’s car with expensive, environmentally-friendly products and feel good about yourself, and the dude will come and pick it up and mat the pedal on that 5.7 L hemi and lay down two 40 foot long strips of rubber as he leaves your driveway… Yeah I’m OK with the products I’m using.

Headlight restoration in North East Ohio (Christmas Help Needed)

I’d definitely recommend the wet sanding/acrylic clear coat route over compounding and sealing, every day of the week. It’s like a full hair transplant compared to a toupée.

    YOUR MOST TRUSTY BRUSHES?

I have a bunch, but actually use very few, all depending upon the task(s) at hand. But… if a green CG Wheelie is scratching a rim face, there’s something wrong with the rim, not the brush.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Maybe do that the other way around next time?

NAME A FEW OF YOUR MOST COVETED TOOLS OF THE TRADE.

My modest 240V 60 gallon is on the way, big change for me! I’ve had compressors and air tools for 30 years, but without adequate flow (volume), there’s only so much I can do (efficiently) — waiting for the 20 gallon tank to top up every 90 seconds of wire-brushing parts gets old in a big hurry!!

    Best beading product?

I could go for a good bead right now

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

There’s a looong thread from maybe 8-9 years ago about headlight restoration. You can skip a few steps and save time, effort and $upplie$ by stopping at 1500 or 2000 grit then UV coating (or using the McGyver minwax/OMS coating from that thread). You’ll get the same clarity, plus a minimum two...

    Bought a Tornador Max.

Pulled the trigger on a Max/VV with the 15 off today. Didn’t order Enzyme, what other of my gazillion APCs and textile products can I use in it?

    Bought a Tornador Max.

Wait. So the new, in-stock VVs come with that 135° elbow, but not the one you got off eBay? Is that what I’m getting out of this?

Best way to clean and dress tires without having to repeat entire process?

Oh wow. Good to know. I guess I’m sticking with Tuff Shine then.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Cool, thanks. Is it ok on new (or almost-new) car trim? I took delivery of my 2023 MINI in August and have been letting it age a bit before doing the trim and interior. I do have a fresh glass bottle Dlux to use, though. What would you use?

Best way to clean and dress tires without having to repeat entire process?

I wouldn’t be surprised if their graphene acrylic spray on coating is exactly the same thing, but designed to waste more so you go through it more quickly lol.

    What have you REPURPOSED?

Like many here, started out with a PC 7424XP, then of course grabbed a HF DA on sale for like $30. I’ve since upgraded to fancier (ie real) machines, but the two originals still get used a fair bit, often salvaging long-neglected rims and tires. HFDA + aqua Cyclo + Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus =...

ONR for interior fabric cleaning (seats, door panels)?

I have to keep reminding myself of the KISS Principle, and that sometimes, siht just works. I’ve probably given away thousands of dollars of products that I accumulated over the years that I latched onto thanks to this forum and others, being hyped as the “new best thing,” all hogging shelf...

Best way to clean and dress tires without having to repeat entire process?

Ah crap I just discarded a few sheets of plastic sign board that I’ve used in the past to make “wheel covers” for stacked stored winter/summer wheels (under a weatherproof protector) in the shed. I could’ve made a range of 16-22” wheel masks now that you mention it.
