I wouldn't say you're a hack, but there are plenty of products that give the trim a richer look without being shiny. (I hate shiny/ greasy/ armorally- YUCK!).

:iagree: I tried it a while back but didn't enjoy it. Lots of wax was wasted, it was put unevenly and too thick and my hands felt sticky from the wax residue for ages after. I know Zymol "recommend" it due to heat activating some enzyme or something in their wax- just like they say to store...

It looks to me like the gray ones are a new design rather than the blue one being old.... reason - I still have a new unused blue one which looks the same as the blue one here. Infact, it looks the same as the blue one that I have used. I'll take a pic later if I get a chance.
