    Ozone machines

Ozone can work great, but you have realize there are health risks that go along with using Ozone. You can utilize it, but you need to ensure you are not breathing in the ozone and that you are airing out the vehicle/your shop or garage very well before delivery to the customer. Over exposure to...

    insurance question

$1,000 is nothing. I would jump on that all day. When I initially started my business and was shopping for insurance, most companies wouldn't even give me a quote as it was "too much of a risk" for them. Which I never understood. The few quotes I did get were outrageous (over $3k). And I was...

    Opti-Coated Wheel Failure? See pics.

Something that wasn't brought up that you may want to try is Iron-x or Sonax full effect wheel cleaner. There maybe embedded brake dust that you don't even see that is causing the issues. Or you can use a fine grade clay to clay the surface. Once a year it's recommended to do a full decon on...

    Mixing Poli-Seal and Opti-Seal

I don't think this will work very well. Poly seal doesn't have a lot of cut in it to begin with and then to mix in opti-seal with it is going to dilute both products. In the end giving you a sub par product. Both were designed for their intended use. Poly seal being an AIO with decent durability...

    Nano skin auto scrub mitt

I have one and it's part of my decon routine with most cars. However, you will notice you may get some marring on soft paints (honda, jet black bmw, tesla). Even after breaking it in on glass you may find it takes a car or 2 for it to fully break in. I find that using a bucket of hot water...

    Opticoat question

It's been awhile since I have used OC 2.0...I'm a pro installer and the pro version flashes much quicker. OC 2.0 takes a lot longer to flash, so last time I used it (a few years ago) I would coat the whole hood and then go back to my initial spot and check for flashing/high spots. In cooler...

    Opticoat question

Average size sedan you should be using 8-10cc of product. Did you wash the car within the 30 day cure period? Opti-coat does not fully harden for 30 days. It can be washed after 24 hrs but it's full cure time is 30 days. On softer paints you can re-introduce marring, scratches, and swirls...

    Modesta Glass Coatings

Really? I'd be interested in seeing that. Happen to have a link to this test? And the pricing per car is definitely high. But as with anything it's all in how it's sold to the customer.

    Modesta Glass Coatings

I recently had the pleasure of being shown the modesta coating at a local meet and great with Barry Theal. Alex Borda was there (one of the US reps). The amount of gloss it adds to the paint and the thickness of the coating are amazing. You could actually feel the difference between the coated...

Leather run (drip) marks, Megs D181

Good advice from Flash. I also would stay away from using a da and brush on leather. Better to pick up a vinyl/leather brush Vinyl & Leather Scrub Brush. This way your in full control of it and it will also limit sling from the spinning. Spray your product (I prefer an APC like APC+ or...

The bottom of the car (line where the door ends)

I always clean all the jambs very well, and blow it all out with the metro blaster before polishing. never had an issue. I would say if your going to be doing this for a living or even a regular basis it's not a good idea to skip that area. Just ensure it's very clean prior to polishing.

    Audi S5 - Opti-Coat Pro - SeaJay's

This customer found me through the Optimum website. After looking at a few detailers and talking to them and myself he decided to bring his car to me for an evaluation. This customer lives 2 hours from me and he was willing to drive the car up so I could take a look at the car and recommend...

    New business name and logo.

I like the logo but I think maybe you need to make the actual company name bigger or remove the outline, or change the font color. Make it really pop against the dark background. Maybe add some actual reflection to the RR or something. Just some ideas to mess around with. It's hard to read...

He smokes cigars in all his vehicles....Escalade, SLS AMG (6 months old), and his Bentley. And it's funny this original write up is from July 2012. Mike (BostonDetails) ended up writing a post last week and now I get all these comments. Appreciate the kind words! It is a great ride that I...

    Bentley Azure - SeaJay's Detailing

Being that the car is rarely driven its not an issue. And nevermind that I see it at least once a month for maintenance washes. Well, did...he's putting it up for sale today. Customer likes the carpet lines so I keep them in the Bentley. Some don't like it them, which is fine. Personal preference.
