Polish & Claybar Budget Friendly Suggestions Please

Yep. I made that mistake too. Can't leave it on very long. Wipe it off panel by panel before it all dries up - no problem.

Take the plunge or take it to someone else?

It's only work. If you have the time, the results are very satisfying - but, no harm in letting a pro do the work either. I note that I am 81 years old and I do the work myself.

Polish & Claybar Budget Friendly Suggestions Please

Meguiars Ultimate polish will not break the bank and is good. Menzerna may be a tiny bit better at greater cost. Mother's clay (2 per box with detailer lube) has worked better than the other popular clays I have tried. Good luck

Swirl finder I can find at a store near me

It's easy. I polish my car in my garage where the swirls don't show up very well. Take it out in the sun and they are everywhere. Therefore - need a light to show up the swirls when I'm polishing in the garage.

    Paint too thin?

Thanks for the thoughts. Lighter polishes were ineffective. I decided to lightly polish with 400 in those areas where the swirls/scratches were most prevalent. Follow with Menzerna 4000 for the entire car. So far, so good.

    Paint too thin?

I don't know the door jamb reading. I usually do all of this myself, but, getting older by the day. So, I took it to a pro and he gave me the readings - about 78 was the thinnest. His quote for correction only was $600. for my convertible. I thought a bit high and maybe he didn't want to do...

    Paint too thin?

I purchased a 2005 Mercedes - Silver - that is swirled up pretty good. Paint thickness as low as 78 microns in places. Can I safely correct the paint with a PC and Menzerna 400 or is the paint too thin? If the paint is too thin to correct, is there anything (sealant/coating/wax) that will...

Ideas for showing work at car show.

I'd be careful. After attending a custom car show last week and seeing the most beautiful paint and meticulous attention to detail - I would be very hesitant to compete with this crowd. It would be hard to stand out with your stock car in the group that I saw. The worst paint I saw was on a...
