2017 Porsche Cayenne S Exterior Detail

Nice work on some really hot days! I don't even want to wash my vehicles right now, let alone do a detail!

Coating experts: I need your opinions here

I don't have any comment on what could be causing this, but I agree with this. Dude probably spent a pretty penny to have the car coated with a "pro" product. A reputable business should bust it's rear end to make things right. I've been in customer service oriented lines of work for most of...

    The Truck Roof

My truck roof doesn't get the full clay/iron removal treatment, but it does get a sealant when I do the rest of the vehicle.

    Time to buff/polish....

The beautiful thing about putting in all the work the first time is you shouldn't have to do as much the second time. With proper wash technique and a little TLC you can usually get away with a light correction/polish once a year. I typically use an All in one in the spring, then a more...

Dilution products- distilled water or purified?

Depending on your location, tap water will have mineral deposits of varying degree. Chemistry of the water can have a huge effect on a lot of things. In fact, breweries with different locations will actually change the chemistry of the water to mimic where they are based so you get a...

What is your "go to" clay product nowadays?

I bought a blackfire mitt. It's so much faster than clay and I was happy with the results.

2020 Explorer Limited for the Mrs.

I suspect the sport was in water at some point before we owned it. We had a lot of little issues with it. Right rear caliper and hub bearing needed to be replaced after a year. It was starting to have some issues with the electronics. All way too early. The 2020 is much more refined...

Which has better quality Mothers or Meguiars?

Mothers All-Chrome is one of my favorite products. The stuff works great. So does their Mag and Aluminum polish. Meguiars seems to make better soaps and wax products for my usage.

Which One Step In Full Sun?

Most products designed for marine and RV use seem to be designed for use in sunlight. I'm sure there are exceptions. Meguiars Marine/RV wax and McKees RV are two lines I've used and like.

Black 2019 Mustang GT/CS coated with CSL

Two beautiful rides. I spent a lot of time in Ford dealers last week and try as I might, my wife wouldn't let me get a pony instead.

2020 Explorer Limited for the Mrs.

New car for the wife, neat story to go along with it. My screen name gives away what I do for a living. I'm a corporate jet pilot. A couple weeks ago I took the owner of a major dealership group in the area to his summer home in Northern Michigan. He's a great guy, very friendly, and his...

Other hobbies or past times outside of detailing

Before kids, I would hunt, fish, backpack, mountain biked, and home-brewed beer. Since kids, I'm down to hunting and mountain biking. As they have gotten older and shown an interest I've started "fishing" a little with them but at 3 and 5, it's more about making sure they have fun for the 30...

New Guy out of St. Louis

If I still lived down there, I'd be about 400 pounds. Between all the good places mentioned, and pretty much everything on the Hill I'd be constantly eating.

Recommend Paint Finishes for Daily Driver Off-roaded Trucks/Vehicles

You're not going to get anything good enough to make it look show quality if you're wheeling it. I've resigned to polishing my truck in the spring, after hunting season, then putting a good sealant on it in the fall for winter. A coating wouldn't help, and would cost me a ton of money...

DP Interior Surface Cleaner and Protectant

Had some nice weather and a little time to wash the truck. I decided to pick up the new DP Interior cleaner/protectant combo. I'll do a quick review of both. The inside of my F150 is filthy from a winter's worth of driving. I sprayed the interior cleaner on a clean microfiber and wiped...

    Need Some Advice on Claying

I've never used a mitt. I have one for the next time I do my truck (hopefully next week). 1) Personal preference. Mitt with a high-lube wash seems to be a good alternative to clay. 2) Any of it can mar. Too many variables to say what will or won't. Maybe an expert can chime in here...
