Best Trim Detailer also for Engine Bay?

I've been extremely impressed by Meg's hyper dressing at 2.5:1. Just enough shine to look slightly more than matte, but not enough to look greasy 'used car lot' shiny. Smells good and self-levels too. I believe if you look for my thread on it I posted some pics of my Grand Marquis' engine bay...

    Polisher Upgrade from Porter Cable

Also, I got some seat time behind a flex 3401 this past weekend. All I can say is thank the lord I never bought one of those. Maybe it's because I've spent so much time on long throw and free spinning, but I hated the thing. I'm sure I could learn it given time to trial and error, but what a...

    HD Speed Removal...

All well and good, and if that's his experience then it is what it is. You say you removed it right away, but your posts say you let it sit for 40min. However, I truly believe letting it haze is unnecessary. If I'm not mistaken, HD speed's protection comes primarily from Montan wax, not a...

Which microfiber towels & applicators for Gyeon CanCoat??

Agree with The Guz. IMO, the perfect combination is the pearl or even an all purpose (edgeless 245 I think is the same deal) MF to level, and then I really like the Edgeless 365 for a final wipedown.

    HD Speed Removal...

The only reason speed would be hard to remove would be using too much product, point blank period. Foam pads need no priming, regardless of product. You should only be priming MF or wool pads. How many pads did you use over the whole car? Also, there's no reason to let it sit for almost an...

    Sprayer Head (Tolco) Maintenance

You could also thread off the atomizer tip and clean or replace the O ring. I find this is a common failure point especially with the stronger cleaners.

Review: BLACKFIRE One-Step Cleaner/Wax by Mike Phillips

IMO, the difference between the 7424xp and gg6 is minimal at best. An occasional hobbyist would do just fine with either for light polishing duties, and both make for fantastic LSP spreaders for nice thin, even coats. Sent from my iPhone using Autogeekonline mobile app

    Meg's D181 Leather Cleaner (no conditioner)....any experiences?

I haven’t tried the gold class but I would imagine it’s similar. I feel confident however that if it is similar, golf class would be significantly weaker than d181. I had my first negative experience with d181 (and gyeon leather for that matter) on some sun faded 1987 Mercedes seats a couple...

Need advice on how to remove this defect

No, I said I suspected it was resprayed and these defects are a result of a suspect respray. Sent from my iPhone using Autogeekonline mobile app

Can this be fixed? (First timer here)

I bet it was there prior to compounding and you're noticing it now because the white-ish compound/polish has worked its way into the cracks and is highlighting it. I'd start planning on a repaint for that panel.

Removing Armor All from leather wrapped steering wheel?

This is an ideal task for D181, in my opinion. That or Gyeon Leather. Either should be strong enough to cut through the armor all without damaging the leather in the process.

Need advice on how to remove this defect

Not worth chasing out unless you're prepared to repaint the panel. Given that you've already gone D300+MF and FG400+Orange, I would not proceed without knowing what's left. To me, like Mike said, it looks like a depression almost like a drip or run that someone tried to take care of. If you...

Gyeon vs. GTechnic which do you prefer.

my .02, for interior protection Gyeon is the way to go. Their fabric coat is a great product, as is leather shield and even leather coat, albeit with less durability than leather shield. I do like GTechniq's antibacterial interior products, makes for a decent selling point to a higher end...

    Polisher Upgrade from Porter Cable

I also feel like the Duetto doesn't get much love either, and it's a hell of an upgrade over a PC or GG6. 12mm orbit in a smaller body tool is something to be reckoned with, if that's your preference. I know a lot of people prefer the smaller tools. I myself have huge hands and long arms so I...

    Polisher Upgrade from Porter Cable

The Flex is a beast of a machine and I would not put it anywhere near the same user experience as a Rupes LHR or Griot's BOSS. I actually just shipped my G15 back to Griot's to exchange for a G21 which I plan to continue using with the 5" plate and pads. Just want a little more 'horsepower' on...

    Polisher Upgrade from Porter Cable

The BOSS is a great machine, and what I currently use. I'd recommend it highly. While still a made-in-china piece, Griot's has them built to their standards and the warranty alone is worth the extra cost. I'm not a big fan of the Adams machine. It's a chinese rupes clone, but with a higher...

Review: BLACKFIRE One-Step Cleaner/Wax by Mike Phillips

Youre looking at most likely a combination of new/dry pad, running the machine too fast, and not enough product. Especially with a 21mm orbit you don’t need a lot of machine speed to get the job done. I normally run my g15 (which I’m getting ready to swap for a 21) at 3-3.5 ish when working...

HD Speed or D166 and LC ThinPros to start

It's also very paint dependent, but the 560SL i did was old, soft, single stage black. So you're going to have to be on top of residue control for softer paints. Jescar micro polish *should* cut more than Speed. I would try both the micro polish on an orange, and the compound on the white and...

HD Speed or D166 and LC ThinPros to start

you need far more than 6 total pads to do what you're talking about doing. Example: I just one-stepped a 1987 560sl (relatively small car) and needed 7 5.5" pads and 4 4" rupes pads to get it done. One thing I'll caution you about is when one-stepping with Jescar Compound and an orange pad...
