i'd scrub with APC first, but don't do in sun (obviously) and don't let it dry. I did an Avalanche with the crazy amount of plastic trim, i put CQUK on it and to this day the owner is super happy with the results..it's been 2 years since application of the coating on the trim. Perhaps try that?

FG400 will def. remove the coating. no doubt. Try polishing just the area of the high spot and recoat, should be fine as it's CQUK and not Finest, etc.
