    Need advice, motor knocking

So Marvel wouldn't clean the sludge out of the screen in the oil pan? Is there any way to clean that screen without dropping the oil pan?

    Need advice, motor knocking

Really sounds like something is plugged up to me, too. That's why I did a motor flush, but if the motor flush didn't unclog things, would the Marvel Mystery oil work any better? What about Seafoam? Thank you guys so much for the advice.

    Need advice, motor knocking

Hey Gordon. I definitely got the oil down to the proper level. I saw how much I pulled out, plus I checked the dipstick. Also, since then, I've drained everything and changed the oil, but it didn't do any good. You're right. I used it as an additive. The motor was a quart low on oil, so I...

    Need advice, motor knocking

Ugh... I've got a couple of cars that I've bought and am trying to flip. The car is question is a 97 Chevy Lumina V6 (3100 motor) with 221,000 miles. I've put 2,000 miles on it since I got it (meant to sell it quickly, but that's a long story for another thread). I did a motor flush and...

Yet again... ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT ENGINE DETAILING AAHHH!!

[QUOTE=Tundra_10;595426]Thank you SeaJay for your input. So for the big stuff it sounds like you are using the daytona wheel brushes? and for details you are using the "nut brushes"? That makes sense. I just want to make sure when I buy the stuff to do this that I can dedicate the tools for...

Yet again... ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT ENGINE DETAILING AAHHH!!

Why in the world would you waste $$ and buy a second toilet brush?:dunno: I've got 2 toilet brushes for the engine bay (and wheel wells)- the traditional old school looped brush, and then the kind of toilet brush where the bristles look like a ball sitting on the end of the brush. I've found...

Yet again... ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT ENGINE DETAILING AAHHH!!

Being new to detailing, I typically refrain from giving advice, as there are others who are more qualified than I to answer questions. However, I've put a lot of research and effort into finding the right brushes for engine detailing, so I'll share what I've found works for me- 1. Toilet brush-...

How to towel dry a car?

This is primarily a question about drying a car prior to lsp application, when a lot of water beads up on the surface and most of it won't just slide off on it's own. Normally I use 1 towel to get the majority of the water then go over it again with a second towel to get that last 10% of...

difference between a glaze and a pure polish?

Actually, that article is what got me thinking about this question, because it lists glazes and pure polishes in the same category. I also agree that oils are not necessarily a bad thing. In my case, I'm fixing up junk cars and reselling them. I'm a newbie in the detailing world, so I don't yet...

difference between a glaze and a pure polish?

I know that a glaze has no abrasive action and only acts to fill in swirls and temporarily hide them, but also, a "pure polish" is defined as a polish with no abrasive properties as well. It has oils that enhance gloss and shine, so I'm wondering if a pure polish enhances gloss and shine with...

M105 dust is re-marring my paint

I'm using a Griot's DA, a cutting pad, and M105. I'll do my section and when I wipe my residue off, I've got a perfect, swirl free finish, but later, after I've done a few more sections and completeled the panel I'm working on, there's the dust all over the panel (to be expected). I'll then...

    AIO for minor holograms.

I'm the OP in the thread that Mike referenced about looking for a professional detailer in Memphis. Your quote above, particularly the part I put in bold, is my exact problem, following my first attempt at using a rotary (with never having used ANY machine before- no DA experience). I've read...

Looking for a detailer in Memphis who is an expert with a rotary

Mike- Sorry if I didn't explain myself clearly enough, and my post sounded redundant. I recognize that leaving a certain amount of holograms is a natural byproduct of a rotary, and that there's no way someone with my skill level can get anywhere near a show car finish using only a rotary, as...

Looking for a detailer in Memphis who is an expert with a rotary

Looking for a detailer in Memphis who is an expert with a rotary I've started buying beat up cars, fixing them up, and selling them (I hope to open a car lot within a year). The cars I'm dealing with for now are usually around 15 years old, heavily abused repos (like from a title loan...
