I'll chime in as another believer for PPF'ing headlights. Had a meet & greet with one of Bambi's buddies and lost both headlights (among other things) on my last car. Retail on those lights was around $1100 each at the time. Took my new headlights still in boxes to a PPF installer near my work...

My take on the tire shops doing the re-check was so they can catch it if a wheel had left not properly torqued in the first place. That way if your wheel falls off but you never came back they've got an out.
