    Trim Coating suggestions

I checked on shelf life of C5 (not C4) and GTechniq said if properly sealed and kept out of direct sunlight would last indefinitely. I think both are clear colour, so as long as look clear, should be good. I contacted GTechniq Service direct, so you should too, just to double check the C4.

Old, Original Opti-Coat vs. Newer Opti-Gloss vs. something else ??

If you have the Opti-Coat, I would definitely use it. If the Opti-Coat stops working then you can always re-do with Gloss-Coat. I had Opti-Coat on for over 2 years and after I polished I put on The Gloss-Coat (because Opti-Coat was no longer available). The Gloss-Coat is a little more slick...

    Trim Coating suggestions

GTeqniq 4 Trim Sealant lasts at least 6-7 months on a car in southern Ontario Canada. I put it on my trim 6 months ago and it still looks like new. Must remove from surrounding paint, but other than that really great product. A very little goes a long way.

    pads for step 2???

I use the ThinPro pads and they work well with 3 " size. Orange for cutting White for polishing Red for fine polishing or waxing. I like the way the pads tend to leave more product on the surface and generate less heat especially on plastic bumpers.

What to do after touchless car wash

Could not resist after 2 solid weeks of winter crap on my DD. Went through a touchless car wash and then 2 blocks to my cold garage. Turned on the heaters and let her sit for an hour. What to do to restore the shine. ONRW&S in a garden sprayer followed by drying towel. Turned out really...

    Collinte 845 or 915 ?

Scooped this off another site, as I could not get a picture of the chart showing the different Collenite Product (they have a cheat sheet style chart). 6) How long does your wax last? Liquid/Gel Wax (845 and 925): 5-7 months depending on UV exposure. Paste Wax (476, 885): 9-11 Months...

After Rain - Prevent Water Spots

Rain water is free of minerals (may have acid rain particles) so what you have is surface contamination. Best way to prevent is wash often and seal or coat. I usually can just water spray and dry and no spots.

Mike, ? About polishes and pads

I think most of the "works best with" is to sell more products. I also think most products have an effective zone that they work best in. A cutting compound will work well with say 3 pads. A swirl remover works well with say 2 pads. A polish with 2 pads. You can move a little either up or...

    Removing wax/sealant pads

You should use a microfiber or cotton bonnet over a soft pad. They sell them everywhere. Put it over the pad and using slow speed remove the wax. I would follow up with hand buff.

    Piano Black Gloss Interior Trim

Agree the Nano iBrid was made for this. But remember plastic does not dissapate heat the way metal does so easy on the speeds. Hand application with a microfiber cloth is suprisingly harsh way to apply polish. You can apply way more force with your hand on the towel than you can with a foam...

Waterpots on Brushed Aluminum and Brushed Steel

The brushed will not be removed with a polish. If you sanded and compounded yes. I would polish by hand with metal polish and microfiber towel or applicator.

What level of polish to BUY?

If you have any products do a test spot or 2. If no products then do some research and try a line of products from same manufacture.

How to handle having paint work done on top of existing Paint Coating

The body shop will sand the coating off as part of the prep. Sanding of course removes everything including the paint. Good news is with a coating the overspray will be easier to remove. If you don't think overspray will happen then clay adjacent panels before you take it in and then do a...

    why rinseless

I actually bought a "waterless wash" from Canadian Tire 5 years ago before I knew about this forum. I was totally underwelmed with it and had make do with washing regular soap and rinsing with a sprayer. Enter ONR. Got the Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine. Did everything the other product...

Dust attraction by surfaces depending on LSP

Absolutely the way it works. Static from the wiping stays with the surface. Try grounding the car after wipeing may help.

Blackfire BlackICE ...is it worth the $95.00?

I don't know but, Collenite 845 is $20.00, so not sure any wax could be 5 times as good. On the other hand if you use it and you are happy, then carry on. If you are a pro you are spending more on product than you need to, thereby reducing your margin.

Has anyone used Optimum Big Red Sponge?

One reason might be to soften the rinse water somewhat. ONR does soften the water, but after a couple of rinses in plain water, you get ONR in the rinse water by default. I wouldn't waste product putting it in the rinse water first.

Griot Sythetic Clay vs Speedy Prep Towel virtually a draw

So tried a side by side comparison for first time. Have been a big fan of the Speedy Prep Towel but wanted to see if something better was out there. The Girots is just realeased so thought I would try. Well the good news is they both work the same, and same excellent ease of use and...
