Some Car Basic Maintenance: How To....

Well done and well presented. Many thanks. Between this , other forums and YouTube University, I have accomplished much of my own maintenance requirements.

    Not Robin Williams

It is a true loss. It is always disturbing that we find out ex post facto that he was/has been dealing with some inner demons and felt that this was a way out. I only hope he knew how much joy he brought to public. Dr. Drew Pinsky was interviewed on a podcast about a day afterwards. His...

    Fukken Wax?

Very similar to fw1shine and other waxes. I have used it for door jams/dirty areas (i.e. rain channels/kick panels etc) and my beater car. A mild cleaner wax with some protection (expect about a month coverage). I do not use like they demonstrated on a filthy car. I do cringe at the demo's.

    A few engine bay questions

Alternator and Throttle body area should definitely be covered and only use a very low pressure rinse. I have done engine details without disconnecting batteries but I am cognizant about not using high water pressure and avoiding any potential problem areas, I always turn the engine off...

My First Stingray: The Good & the Bad

First off, you did a fantastic job in correcting and protecting this car. I also agree with "TuxeduTaurus" in that the new C7 is truly a world car. I think the C6 really started the trend for a more world class car. But the C7 is light years ahead in the design.

Just picked up a pilot for the wife!

Nice truck, my neighbor just bought a '14 in black. Very usable room and utility without being a beast on the road.

Sat for my nursing boards last week

Congratulations!!! This hits close to home because my wife decided when our twins were in 1st grade to go back to get her nursing degree. Initially going for a LPN, but became a RN (some easy persuasion by the Univ. MD Baltimore recruiter). She passed her boards and has enjoyed being a Nurse.

What are you watching? TV or what? (Orphan Black - Clone Club Junkie!!!!!!!)

Agreed on Orphan Black. Tatiani is incredible in her ability to make every clone distictly different. She is a very talented actress. My List: Game of Thrones (although I am one season behind) Boardwalk Empire (same) The Walking Dead (last season really elevated the show) Orphan Black ( I like...

    My 2014 Mirage all DONE

Nice work on the paint correction of the Mirage. Last year, I bought a used Insight also for the specific reason of saving fuel for my commute. Not exciting by any means but perfect for my needs. The new Mirage looks to be a perfect fit for commuters who need a reliable, inexpensive, efficient...

    coping with nightshift

I have been night shift almost exclusively for the last 10 years. I would echo Mike Phillips and Imacanyone"s advice. Routine is key. For me, I had to adjust my eating habits. I am a thin framed guy and gained 20lbs the first year (not adjusting my diet and lack of routine). That scared me to...

I Cringed When I Saw "An Auto Detailer" Do This

Again, I think we are the exception rather than the rule for detailing. Most people just want their car "shiny" and could give a wit about proper procedure. I will use this example. My wife's cousin wanted to get her Lexus SUV detailed and had asked several detail shops for quotes (to be quite...

Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

I admittedly did not read all the replies, but I will add my 2 cents. To the OP, I would worry about going upside down again on a new car loan (considering you were slightly upside down on the purchase on the Cr-Z). I like the Abarth very much but I would wait a little while to check the...

    Big Time Giveaway!

I do like the idea of a traveling Detail Fest. I understand not doing one in the Northeast in the dead of winter, but maybe a central location DC/Northern Virginia. This Baltimore/DC/Northern Virginia (well over a population of almost 5 million in the Metro DC/Baltimore /surrounding counties)...
