CERAKOTE enters the Auto Ceramic Coating Market

On their site, it's listed as "professional" - I would assume the coating is not much different than other coatings like from Carpro/Gyeon for example. Anyway, it's listed at $100, but the photos always show a pair of 30ml bottles. There's no mention of quanity. As far as I can tell, it's 2 x...

    Your favourite smelling products?

Hand's down - P&S Xpress Cleaner. I think it's pineapple or something. Unreal. Low key good smeller - Carpro Reset - subtle, but a favorite.

    Final step / Jewl polish

My favorite for jeweling is the seafoam green LC CSS pad with Griot's boss perfecting cream on 8-9mm d/a speed 4 with very little pressure, even less than the weight of the tool itself. Even though their blue pad is supposed to even softer, it just seems like the open cell green pad results in...

Avoid plush towels or anything with much nap. The pearl weave type towels are the best for no lint.

    Cheap/Cheaper/Economical Products in your stash

Mother's CMX surface prep spray ($11 for 24oz versus most panel wipes being 16oz for ~$20) Wolfgang uber sio2 ww $20 for 16oz which dilutes down into gallons and gallons of detail spray/waterless wash/drying aid/clay lube. Griot's Boss creams about $20 for 16oz versus most other quality polishes...

If you need more cut, which do you find is better to go with a more aggressive compound or pad?

Depends, but if you're using a compound (DAT), then you can go to a firmer pad or MF for more cut, and probably still get great finish. If you're using a typical polish (that only goes down to about 2500-3000 grit), you're never going to get the cut you need, no matter what pad you choose. In...

    Once a year compound/polish.

You might opt to use a cleaner wax (or synthetic sio2/polymer type AIO [polish+sealant]) which will lightly clean the paint up (swirl removal) but not so aggressively that you'd worry about running out of clear coat ever. You'd use a soft foam polishing pad might be called finnessing or...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I'm doing a 1 step on a newish, black Audi A3. I'm very used to BMW paint. The audi uses Glasurit paint as well, but I've heard it's a tick softer than bmw. I went with Tangerine LC eurofoam pad and Shinesupply classic cut (diminishing compound). It's going great, classic cut is finishing out...

    Gyeon Cancoat Evo layerability

Agreed, start over. Unless you just don't care that much, but then I wouldn't use cancoat, I'd use some cheaper sio2/polymer spray. That is to say, Cancoat deserves bare/polished paint :)

Suggestions on a cheaper spray and hose off sealant?

I think Turtle wax and 303 aerospace have these types of sprays, at the cheap pricepoint versus Gyeon wetcoat/Carpro hydro at the higher price point. On AG, 303 Touchless Sealant As for sugestions, I've seen wetcoat mentioned a lot, seems to work well. But I think there's a trick to these...

Griots Fast Correcting Cream + Sonax Perfect Finish?

If doing a 2 step, I love Fast correcting cream, then perfecting cream, but if you really wanted Sonax for finishing, I like their 03-06 rather than the 04-06 (which is still very popular, mind). Perfecting cream (well, all BOSS creams) has a looooong working time, and no dust. Easy to wipe off...

    Ceramic coating question

I think one part is, "what's really included?" & the the other is, "how much of the cost is just for profit?" Preparing a vehicle properly, and applying the coating properly, and letting it cure properly takes TIME. Time is money. For $450, I don't see how they can wash/decon, correct, and...

    Car Pro's Reload 2.0

Was about to buy some, but got a great deal on Gyeon Cure (which I'm really liking by the way - diluted, sprayed onto towel first). Glad to see that reload 2.0 is an improvement, and I'll have to grab a bottle at some point. Like DFB alluded to, I wonder how useful these higher sio2 content...

White powder in Gyeon Ceramic Detailer

My bottle of CURE also seems to get a little white sediment or seperation. It also leaves a white ring around the plastic bottle where the liquid levels out and sits. I just made it a good habit to always shake before spraying.

    Prep question

I would just do one more complete panel wipe. I also assume (please correct me someone if I'm wrong) that buffing the car right before LSP application creates more static charge on the paint surface for better bonding? I wouldn't bother with the ONR esp since it could leave something behind -...
