ONR + Ultimate Spray Wax or ONRWW

Which will give the better winter protection...Regular ORN followed by Meg's Ultimate Spray Wax or just ONR Wash and Wax? The extra step in a applying the Spray Wax is not a concern. My trucks are presently protected with Meg's Ultimate Wax and both trucks are garaged when not being driven.

    Wrinkles in replacement seat cover

To answer my own question: West Coast Customs - Removing Upholstery Wrinkles with Ish - YouTube Worked great with a slight change for fabric. Before placing the towel on the seat, I wrapped another towel around it to squeeze out most of the water before placing it on the seatcover. The towel...

    Wrinkles in replacement seat cover

I had a cloth seat cover replaced on my 2012 Ram. The seat cover is tight but it still has a few packing wrinkles in it. My dealer's service manager said the wrinkles will disappear after the new cover has been in use for a while. True? If not, is there anything that I can do to correct...

New car, Opti-coat and water spots

I have you beat by a year and have been into cars for 55 years...going clear back to the days of Cadillac Blue Coral Polish and Wax. It seems like new products are coming out daily. Makes it a bit hard for us "mature" guys to keep up. I was about to try OptiCoat 2.0 but now think that I'll go...

There are tiny flecks of road tar on the sides of my white Ram....3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner or clay to remove them? Back in the"good old days"...no question...just get out the solvent. Now I don't know which would be best. The flecks are every small. Easily removed with either...

Review: Detailer’s Paint Coating & Detailer’s Coating Prep Polish

Still thinking about applying a coating before the snow flies. A couple of questions: The durability of DP coating....it lasts for two years or so, right? What are the signs of it loosing its protective power? When corrections need to be done for marring or scratches, what is the procedure for...

    Farm equipment

I detail my John Deere tractor at least once a year. (My tractor is always in the garage when it is not being used.) I wash it regularly. The paint is single stage and soft. I usually use just a good cleaner wax by hand. Go gently. If I tried to remove all the micromarring and swirls, I'd...

Protection for Motorcycle Polished Aluminum Engine Cases

Several years ago it was recommended that after polishing the uncoated polished aluminum engine cases on my 1995 Harley Sportster with Mothers Billet Polish, that I protect them with a "pure" carnuba wax rather than a synthetic "wax". Is this still true. If so why? I have both Meguiar's...

Opti Coat may not be for me

A factor to think about...as a retiree I do have time...sometimes too much. Causes me to over-think minor details. :) An example of my "real" need or lack of need. I waxed both trucks last October. They were still beading in April with only minor marring from using a Meguiar's brush during...

Opti Coat may not be for me

I was just about ready to order some Opti Coat 2.0 and "go at it" on my 2012 white Ram and my wife's 2011 white Tacoma, but then I was overwhelmed by a sense of "why". I first considered Opti Coat when I realized that I may have compromised a repainted hood by a bit of fairly aggressive...

Using a PC 7424 as a sander on wood siding

Thanks Mike and others, A little more information. I am not removing a heavy layer of paint. I only have to remove as much of the old seal/stain as possible. The product is water based and only a very thin layer is on the surface of the wood and much of it is already flaking off. The...

Using a PC 7424 as a sander on wood siding

I know the Porter Cable 7424 was a sander before detailers discovered it for polishing paint. When I bought my PC about ten years ago I bought it as a polisher not expecting to ever use it for sanding. Well, the time has come to use it for what it was intended. I have a considerable amount of 4...
