    "Lime Peel" (Micro Orange Peel)??

Never was a question about doing a correction. Mostly I wondered how frequently corrections like this have to be made. The work was done by a very good shop. Tom

    "Lime Peel" (Micro Orange Peel)??

I recently had have bodywork done on my new Ram. I hit a deer and the result was $5700 damage, but very little actual bodywork. A corner of the hood had a small dent and there was a scratch of on fender. The body repairs were made and then repainted using a blend technique for the base coat...

Ice water after several coats of carnauba

Yep, I used the original Blue Coral almost exclusivley in the 60's and 70's. The directions on the can stated that you were to followup buffing with cold water. Application and buffing were done by hand. It was a lot more work that any other wax available at the time. Tom

    Removing nibs in factory paint

39 more dust nibs (Also posted on Meguiar's Forum) Yep, I was at it again. The first time around I did not pay all that much attention to the sides of the truck. A couple of weeks ago I was using Ultimate Wash and Wax for the first time so I was really looking the truck over carefully. 39...

I have some issues with my motorcycle...

Yep, all of the CVO's are nice bikes. I actually thought about buying one but that price is well on its way to covering a bunch of the cost on a bada$$ Mustang GT. Good luck getting your Sportster cleaned up. Tom

I have some issues with my motorcycle...

You might want to check this out about IronX: "....Note: Iron X should not be used on chrome, bare metal parts, brake calipers, wheel balancing weights, or SMART paint repairs. Mask off these areas. Avoid letting Iron X dry on any surface..." Autogeek catalog Sorry to say you are SOL in...

What is a good tire dressing for gravel roads/driveways

I have lived on a gravel road for fifteen years. When I wash/detail, my trucks I don't use any dressing. I just wash them with a good all purpose cleaner and call it good enough. Gravel roads and gravel drives are not good for people with OCDD (obsessive compulsive detailing disorder). :D...

Any favorite products for white paint

Two white trucks. A 2011 Tacoma - single stage white. A 2012 Ram - base coat/clear coat white. Both prepped with a Porter Cable 7424 using Meguiar's ColorX, Ultimate Polish or Ultimate Compound as needed followed by Meguiar's Ultimate Wax. I frequently do maintenance waxing with Meguiar's...

    Clearcoat failure advice please

Had that happen to me once. The fix was more than you really want to hear. The body shop ended up removing the stripe and because of the mess that resulted ended up sanding the panel, repainted the base coat, sprayed on clear and then applied a new stripe. Because it was their error, I...

    Teen center car washes.

Just make sure that have products will do as little damage as possible to the vehicles. A quality soap, quality sponges and quality towels would be the way to go. Best you find some shade for them to work in too. So many times I see these kiddos working in a hot, sunny mall parking lot. Not a...

Tar everywhere! Cleaned it off, but what's with my paint now?

This is a question that should be answered by someone with a bit of experience that can see the actual damage...especially for a person with almost no experience in finish care. I suggest having someone at a good detail shop or body shop take a look at the damage. Carb cleaner contains...

Lets hear from our Motorcycle owners!

Only thing better than one Harley is two (or more). My 1995 Sportster 1200 and 2002 Super Glide. My wife won the Sportster, but I had to pay "cold hard cash" for the Super Glide. Oh, she doesn't "ride". The Sportster was her gift to me. She won it on my 53rd birthday. Tom

Microfiber polishing cloth and heat shields

A reminder: Make sure that you keep your microfiber polishing cloth or microfiber towel away from hot heat shields, pipes or mufflers. Unfortunately I didn't think of this until it was too late. What a "mess". I fixed the "mess" by running the bike long enough to get the shield really hot...

Jim, So you really use this stuff on your Expedition and Audi? What a leap of faith! Absolutely no problems with application? Any trips to the body shop after application? Right now both of our vehicles are in very good shape...a 2011 Tacoma and a 2012 Ram, both white. Both are driven...

    Opti-Coat 2.0 Comments/Questions from an "Old Guy"

I have been washing, waxing, detailing cars and trucks for over 50 years. I have always tried to use quality supplies from reputable manufacturers. I've pretty much stuck with Megs products since the early 1970's. I appreciate the new washes, compounds, polishes and waxes/sealants as well as...
