How to remind customers to pay for a detail.

I love this. I also think you handled this perfectly. You could have gotten aggressive/pushy, as some in this thread have implicated would be the best way to go about it ("putting on your business owner pants"), but you didn't; You went the high road and kept things courteous, professional...

    Why???

This is the main reason why I virtually always park in an 'endcap' parking spot, pulled as far up to the curb as possible, so I can insure as much buffer space between my car and the next car over. Seems like almost every time I decide "those two cars are fairly expensive and in good shape, so...

    Favorite Waterless Wash

An extra 10 seconds to give a final wipe/buff to the windshield to level/smooth the carnauba, and get a slick, water-shedding finish, sounds like a waste of time?

    Favorite Waterless Wash

Yep, Pinnacle Liquid Crystal Waterless Wash. It works great on glass, with one caveat: After you spray it on and wipe it off, you need to go back over it again with a shorter-pyle microfiber. If you don't you get 'holograms'

    Favorite Waterless Wash

I regularly use Pinnacle on my windshield, and it does a great job at both cleaning the windshield to a beautiful clarity, and helping the water blow off at high speeds - I pretty much don't need to use my wiper on the highway after cleaning the windshield with Pinnacle.. at least for a few...

    Favorite Waterless Wash

I've been using Pinnacle Liquid Crystal WW for some time now, and I've also got a bottle of Wolfgang Uber RW that I use as a WW when I don't want to leave any wax.. Both seem to work quite well for me, and both smell awesome. I've even mixed the two on more than one occasion to add some...

what make of car & how many miles do you have (pt.2)?

My 2010 Ford Fusion SE, with the 2.5 engine and 6F35 Transmission, made it to the moon (238,900 miles) on Sept 8... half way to my goal of 'driving her to the moon and back': She just rolled past 241,000 miles yesterday. Here's a recent pic. She gets approximately 500 miles per week...

Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

Yeah.. I know. I was trying to be... diplomatic. In all honesty, I think those kind of mods are just idiotic, but there are those who like them, and I'm sure some of them visit AG.

    What are you listening to...?

Found this band completely by luck as part of my Pandora 'Within Temptation' station.. IMHO, a massively overlooked band with a very cool sound.

Thinking about trading in the CR-Z for a Fiat 500 Abarth, thoughts?

I agree with the others.. these 'Car of the Month' contests usually lean heavily towards 'ricer' type mods. Now, if you had done a ridiculous camber adjustment on all your wheels and gone for 'stance', you probably would have walked away with all 20 votes.. but then you'd have a goofy looking...

How long to wait before applying wax...?

Collinite is funny stuff. From my experience, it would not mix well with any kind of QD that I can think of. You'd just get QD with tiny chunks of Collinite in it. If you're looking for something you can spray, just start with a quality spray wax, like D156 or similar.

    MF Towel collection

Yeah.. my wife did the same thing when she realized how many I have. I came home from work one day and I wasn't inside the house longer than 20 seconds when I hear "Stop buying those *$#@ towels!" Luckily, 1) I have enough to get me by now.. and 2) I showed her how nice they make her car look...

    What are you listening to...?

... off of their latest album - "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" - This epic 24-minute long song includes some incredible music, thought-provoking lyrics, and even quotes from "Origin of the Species" read by Richard Dawkins. Symphonic Metal at its finest!

Thinking about buying a Legacy or Fusion - any thoughts?

That's one HECK of a deal for a new SR - Nice! I had actually considered recommending an Altima to the OP, since my other car is an Altima (SL), and I really find it to be excellent.. however, I wasn't sure if he was locked into either the Fusion or Legacy. Since you brought it up, I will...

Thinking about buying a Legacy or Fusion - any thoughts?

There were some issues, but it's not nearly as widespread as you think. Also, sorry to hear about your client's issues - She clearly got a problem child, but I'd hardly use that one example as condemnation of the entire line. Properly maintained, a Fusion can last a LONG time and go tons of...

What should I do?! Need new car advice!

Best bet - Save your $399, spend a couple hours to do some research and find a quality, reputable detailer in your area, and pay them to do a full prep and coating using a quality product. It will probably cost LESS than $399 for them to apply REAL long-lasting protection, and it will look MUCH...

    the best spray wax

I'm a big fan of Meguiar's D156. It works amazingly well. I've gone 6 months between proper waxes, and I still get powerful beading using regular D156 topper

Spray waxes or sealants as exclusive LSP?

I wax my car usually about 2x a year using a proper paste or liquid wax, applied via machine, and then run the time in between by following each and every 2bm wash with an application of D156. In my experience, this has proven to be incredibly effective at maintaining gloss, slickness, beading...
