    Some people are jerks

Just an update for those who are curious. I was able to apply the touch-up paint on Friday as planned. Took about 3-4 hours to fill the scratch in, over the course of 3 different applications. Had to build it up slowly, making sure that the paint went on in layers to keep the metallic finish...

Need Help! Decal Sticker Removed Now Green Glow!

I've seen numerous threads over on other forums that talked about certain colors of plasti dip leaving stained paint after it was removed. Each of these threads that I've seen ultimately said that a few weeks later, the staining was gone. The general consensus was that the sun had done the...

Amazing work, and top-notch write-up. I bet the owner was blown away!

    Some people are jerks

Unfortunately, even though I'm pretty sure I know who did it, I have absolutely zero proof that they were responsible, and without proof, I'm not going to 'stir that pot' especially since it may just trigger them to do it again. I'll be contacting my insurance to find out what they can do to...

    Some people are jerks

I actually have a Dr. Colorchip kit that I ordered a while back to address the multitude of tiny chips on the front edge of my hood. I got the big kit with the squeegee, and I am thinking I may end up using it as part of my repair process. I'll be sure to share my process and results.

    Some people are jerks

Thanks Joe. I agree - Simply trying to "sand out" the scratch is a bad idea. What I'm planning on doing is filling it in to the point where the touch-up paint is just slightly higher than the surrounding paint, then sand it back down so it's level, and then polishing it and waxing it so it's...

    Some people are jerks

Yes, it definitely catches when I go over it with my nail. It's through the clear coat, so it's going to need a proper touch-up. Yes, I could get the door completely repainted, but again, this is a daily driver, and it already has little chips in the paint, and lots of tiny ones on the front...

Used too little CquartZ Opinions Needed

The ones I use are similar to the picture I posted, and are standard halogens. I chose those because they were 1) BRIGHT, and 2) reasonably cheap. Lowe's had them for about $35 each. They get a bit hot, so at some point I'll probably upgrade with some LEDs if I can, but these work great and...

    Some people are jerks

For those who don't know, I have a 2010 Ford Fusion that I use as my daily driver. I drive 80 miles per day, round-trip to work, and the car is currently a little over 215,500 miles. While it's "just a daily driver", I still take very good care of it, do my own maintenance, and wash the car...

Used too little CquartZ Opinions Needed

This is one of your big mistakes. If you're planning on detailing your car, and ESPECIALLY if you're applying wax, sealant, or coating, ALWAYS have LOTS of light so you can see everything you're doing. Working in the dark, or even just low light, can cause you to miss all sorts of important...

    Contract with Dealers?

What VP Mark said.. also, if you think you might be getting that many extra cars per week in business from dealers, why not see about arranging to use their water/shop space, or at least purchase one of those pop-up canopies to provide shade while you work? You could even have one made that...

what to use this spray wax on

..not to mention it smells better than the D156. I swear, if they offered D156 in the same smell as UQW, I'd never buy anything else.

    Ah Damit....

Living in Phoenix, dust is pretty much a way of life. I wash my car almost every weekend and usually finish with a wax-as-you-dry and/or spray wax, but almost without fail, the car has a fine layer of dust on it after a couple days. .. and then there's those days when I wash/wax the car, and...

I certainly will! It's got the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine. Got another crazy fact to share about the car. I replaced the plugs a week ago (last Sunday), and the plugs I pulled out were FoMoCo plugs (not Motorcraft), which as far as I know, are only normally installed in the factory. I...

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

Back and forth to work, mainly. It's an 80 mile round trip to work. Add to that other regular errands, etc.. Yes, I do all the regular maintenance myself - oil changes, coolant, trans flush, spark plugs.. I fully plan to keep her until at least 350,000 miles.

The Post a Picture of Your Ride as it Sits Thread

While we're on the subject of daily drivers, I'd like to think that my 2010 Fusion - my daily driver for the past 2 years - looks pretty darn good for a car with 215,000 miles on it. Was covered with spider web swirls when I bought it in 2014, but I was able to clean it up nicely with a Harbor...
